Freelance Developmental Editor

We are looking for a developmental editor to review our content and provide feedback that will help us meet our clients’ goals.

Though this editor should be able to edit sentence-by-sentence, we’re looking for someone able to determine whether a particular piece of content fits in the bigger picture: Is this content an accurate execution of the brief? Will it help drive the clients’ goals? Is it structurally and visually digestible? Our editor should be able to “zoom out,” as it were, see the piece from the audience’s perspective.

This person should be able to read a client's strategy and style guide and edit content according to the needs outlined in each.

This particular person should be generally available on Thursday and Friday afternoons and during the last 3 business days of the month.

This role reports to our Director of Client Services (Content Strategy and Delivery) and works with Heads of Content and Content Marketers.

You're a fit for the Content Marketing Editor role if:

• You have a proven track record of writing and editing long-form content, ideally B2B, SaaS, or tech blog posts, guides, and/or ebooks

• You can communicate why changes should be made, not simply fix errors or improve writing

• You know how to balance feedback with encouragement You can tie micro work back to macro goals.

This role requires:

• You to work with a lot of different writers and clients across different industries

• A demonstrated ability to understand content marketing strategies and edit individual pieces to align appropriately

• Familiarity with content for various distribution channels, and strong opinions about how to write/edit for each channel

• Familiarity with email marketing, social media, and popular blogging platforms, and the different writing and stylistic requirements of each

• * Strong interest in B2B, SaaS, and/or technology and a thorough knowledge of the top content and thought leadership in these fields.
