
Marketing and Communications Strategist
Overview
The Strategist is a key member of KW2's Research & Insights team, helping clients find clarity and focus on complex challenges. This role blends curiosity, analytical thinking, and creativity to turn data, research, and stakeholder perspectives into actionable brand, communication, and marketing strategies.
You’ll act as a consultant and thought partner—translating insights into positioning, messaging, and campaign strategies that drive change across KW2’s focus areas: higher education, public health, and workforce development.
Roles & Responsibilities
Lead strategy development for assigned clients, from discovery through campaign implementation
Partner with account, creative, media, and research team members to ensure strategies are grounded in insight and drive measurable outcomes
Develop brand positioning, audience segmentation, messaging frameworks, and campaign strategies
Write and present POVs, creative briefs, and strategic recommendations that inspire clients and creative teams
Work in a consultative manner with clients and stakeholders to identify marketing challenges, frame opportunities, and co-create strategic solutions
Facilitate workshops and discovery sessions with clients and stakeholders
Collaborate with researchers to interpret data and translate findings into actionable direction
Support new business efforts by contributing to proposals, strategic thinking, and client presentations
Stay current on cultural, behavioral, and category trends that inform strategy
Build and maintain strong client relationships as a trusted strategic partner
Qualifications
7–10 years of experience in brand, marketing, or communications strategy (agency or equivalent in-house experience preferred)
Proven ability to connect audience insight, market context, and brand opportunity into clear strategy
Strong storytelling and presentation skills with comfort leading client discussions
Demonstrated ability to develop and present creative briefs, POVs, and strategic frameworks
Experience facilitating workshops and stakeholder interviews
Knowledge of or experience in higher education or public health a plus
Collaborative, curious, and adept at navigating ambiguity to find clarity
In the past, you may have had titles such as: Account Planner, Policy Advisor, or Communications Strategist, among others.

Location Restrictions
This remote position is available to U.S. residents only. Wisconsin and Minnesota residents preferred, but other locations will be considered.
