If you’ve ever given online to a Democrat or progressive organization, chances are you’ve used our powerful online fundraising platform.

We put power in the hands of small-dollar donors and help thousands of groups — from presidential candidates to environmental organizations — build grassroots movements. We envision a democracy where everyone looking to make progressive people-powered change can easily and effectively deploy their resources, energy, and creativity to shape our country and futures. Each and every one of us, from the political activists to the tech innovators to the customer service pros, is fully committed to our mission.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Account Operations Team works with the many campaigns and organizations that use our tools, ensuring that new groups are set up on our platform correctly and facilitating the disbursement of funds raised using our tools to the thousands of campaigns and organizations fundraising through our platform.

To help support the scalability and sustainability of our operations, ActBlue is hiring a Payments Manager. In this role, you will oversee a wide range of payment processes to help them flow more efficiently, increase operational oversight into mission-critical payment functions, and be a key point of contact for our payments processing partnerships and front-line escalations organization-wide. You will also be managing a small team of specialists who manage the daily operations of our payment operations.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Make suggestions and plans for continuous improvements (both small efficiency gains and strategic adjustments) of these operations

  • Act as the key point of contact for both internal and external escalations relating to our payments, ACH, and banking partners for further resolution and investigation

  • Act as the main liaison between ActBlue’s Finance, Engineering, and Product teams and counterparts at our payments processing, depository banking, and check processing partners to ensure timely resolution of any issues as they arise

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Experience hiring, onboarding, and managing full-time staff strongly preferred

  • 4+ years of experience working in payments operations or payment servicing at a card network, payments processor, financial institution, or other large-scale (>$1bn annual transaction/sales volume) fintech or e-commerce platform.

  • Familiarity with key payments ecosystem participants, networks, and core concepts such as settlement timing, chargeback rules, NACHA rules, and credit card interchange rates

  • Subject matter expertise in payments servicing and operations and an established track record of improving process efficiency and building and maintaining durable and scalable back-office processes to power high-volume payment platforms or processors

  • Good working knowledge of the most important KPIs and metrics necessary to monitor the operational performance and efficiency of a payments platform and can own the implementation and management to such KPIs with little to no supervision

  • Experience working with customer-facing teams to resolve complex operational issues that may arise such as missing payments, incomplete batch files, stuck payments, unsettled transactions and other similar scenarios.

  • Experience working in an environment with engaged teammates, a dedication to fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment, and openness to backgrounds and points of view that differ from your own.
