About This Role
Climate Power has an immediate opening for a Writer on its Communications team. This person will drive the successful execution of day-to-day and long-term writing projects and ensure that written materials within the department and across the organization are streamlined.
The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record of exceptional writing skills, project management and a passion for advancing our mission to combat climate change.
This position reports to the Managing Director of Communications.
Primary Responsibilities
Draft communications materials including press releases, polling memos, fact sheets and other desired written content quickly and on tight deadlines.
Review and edit all outbound communications materials for content, spelling, style, format and grammar.
Ensure that content is inclusive and accessible for diverse audiences, including adherence to best practices for cultural competency and accessibility.
Build and maintain a content calendar for outbound communications materials and coordinate with other teams across Climate Power.
Coordinate with Climate Power’s research team to perform research and fact-checking.
Provide guidance to other staff members on writing conventions and style.
Work with the Managing Director of Communications and the full team to write and edit communications materials.
Essential Qualifications
5 years of relevant prior work experience in communications and editing.
2 years of people and/or project management experience; demonstrated success in leading departments and diverse teams and managing complex projects.
Must be able to work independently, but also collaboratively with diverse groups of people, communities, and partners.
Strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities.
Adept at long-form and short-form writing.
Excellent grasp of grammar and spelling.
Proven research and fact-checking skills.
Proactive and energetic disposition.
A keen eye for detail and quality writing.
Organized and meticulous about their work.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Workplace.

Location & Hours of Operations
Climate Power is a remote-first organization based in DC. This position can be located anywhere in the U.S., but must be able to work Monday - Friday 9 am - 6 pm EST, plus weekends and evenings as the work dictates.
$85,400 - $101,712 a year

Our Hiring Timeline and Process
