The Finance team at Doximity is seeking a Director, SOX Compliance for our enterprise SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) program. The Director, SOX Compliance will assist senior management in standing-up a SOX Compliance function to successfully implement and maintain effective Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR). The ideal candidate will have proven experience with financial reporting and SOX requirements and methodologies (risk assessment, controls design, testing strategies, etc.) and must have knowledge of process flow mapping, design and documentation of controls, controls testing, evaluation of control deficiencies, and remediation plans. The Director, SOX Compliance will possess the ability to effectively manage internal and external partners (process owners, external auditors, outsourcing partners), demonstrate proficient project management skills, superior communication (written and oral), and organizational skills.
This role will report to the Vice President, Corporate Controller. As a successful Director, SOX Compliance, you will use influence and innovation to maximize adoption and a positive change experience.
This is preferred as an SF based role, but given our remote friendly culture even pre-COVID, remote candidates are welcome.
Responsibilities
In coordination with our SOX consultants, develop and implement SOX ready documentation, narratives, flowcharts, RCMs and control descriptions;
Manages all activities related to compliance with the Sarbanes Oxley Act;
Serve as liaison with external auditors;
Prepare executive management and audit committee materials, highlighting overall SOX progress and results;
Ensure best in class controls are embedded in each business process area, including effective control design to address the risk;
Identifies process deficiencies and partner with process owners to remediate and improve;
Support the SOX integration of any new applicable accounting pronouncements and significant transactions;
Design and manage a SOX Help Desk to support the finance organization
Act as a trusted advisor; fostering strong relationships with business and technology partners, and external auditors;
Support various IT compliance projects related to accounting and financial software applications;
Stays abreast of current changes in regulations to ensure the organization's timely compliance; and
Perform all other duties and special projects, as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
BA/BS in Accounting or related field
10+ years of progressive experience including, at a minimum, 6+ years of direct SOX compliance experience at “Big 4” accounting firm and/or at a public company;
Certification in accounting and/or auditing, required, including a CPA, CA, CIA, and/or CISA;
In-depth knowledge of US GAAP, COSO, PCAOB Auditing Standards, Sarbanes-Oxley, risk and controls standards, and business process best practices
Proven experience in supporting the execution of an end-to-end SOX program and driving/supporting risk management initiatives of an enterprise-wide SOX program
Strong planning, project management, and analytical skills;
Self-motivated team player with the ability to proactively problem-solve, identify, advocate for and execute improvements;
Excellent communication (verbal and written), collaboration, and presentation skills
Comfortable working in a fast-moving dynamic, environment.
Knowledge of ERP Systems is a plus;
