
Software Developer II
Reports to: Lead Developer
Location: Remote
Hours/Employee Type: 40hrs/wk, Exempt
Security clearance: Must be a US Citizen and capable of obtaining a DoD Common Access Card
Position Description:
SOFware serves some of the most elite units in the Special Operations and Law Enforcement communities with software and consulting services. We are a small, fast-growing organization in need of people who thrive in dynamic environments and care deeply about serving our clients.
We’re looking for an experienced Software Developer to help our team continue to move forward at full speed to serve our demanding clients with unique, top-quality software products. You’ll enjoy developing unique solutions to customer challenges by studying information needs, systems flow, data usage and work processes, and--most importantly--by directly conferring with users.
The Software Developer II reports directly to the Lead Developer and assumes a leadership role during Lead Developer’s absence. The Software Developer provides software development support under minimal direction to all applications maintained and developed by SOFware; this will include being proficient in all aspects of software development and time management.
Responsibilities:
Performs software development on one or more existing software products as a part of a remote development team
Leads software development projects and mentors junior developers
Protects operations and client data by keeping information confidential
Turns client desires into actionable work units

Must thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments
Proficient in Ruby/Rails, Rspec, Javascript, Git, and Docker. React or other front end frameworks are a plus. Coffeescript is also a plus, though we are removing it gradually.
Willing to learn and adapt to new technologies/languages/frameworks
Excellent follow-through—“fire and forget”
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Detail oriented and capable of completing multiple time-sensitive tasks with minimal direction
Good documentation skills
Requirements
Minimum 5 years experience as a software developer
Extra points for military service
Working Environment
Remote, with occasional travel and on-site interface with customers.
Travel
Travel may be required as-needed and will be performed under the guidelines of Federal Travel Regulations (FTR) and/or Joint Travel Regulations (JTR).
