
Data Analyst
ROLE MISSION
Our R&D Team is seeking a Data Analyst with expertise in extracting, transforming, and reporting data in support of product development. Working as an integral member of 15Five’s Data Team, the Data Analyst will help shape and deliver the data strategy and processes that provide quantitative and qualitative support to our product roadmap. To be successful in this role they must have strong analytical skills, a proven track record of working with insights from raw product usage data, and the ability to identify stories and trends that ensure our customer POV is included in product strategy planning. It is integral that they are a proactive communicator with a knack for finding issues and insights while bringing people together to solve problems or improve the current state. They see the “big picture” but can also ship effectively at the tactical and technical level, including SQL coding.

While this role sits within the R&D Organization,, it is highly cross-functional, with particular focus on our Engineering, Marketing, and Revenue Organization teams.
OUTCOMES
Reporting and Analytics
Own the defining and reporting of KPIs to understand the trends and drivers within them
Identify issues we need to understand better and structure deep-dives to uncover actionable insights on them, for example why volumes are trending up, or why drivers of efficiency are trending down
Navigate the unstructured and undefined data infrastructure to join together relevant data from multiple sources in a way that sheds light on customer behaviors and interactions
Support our Product Management and Engineering Team team to build a more robust data foundation around the customer rather than around individual transactions/event
Collect, digest, and interpret data from Pendo, Redash, QuickSight and relay insights and understanding/meaning to appropriate stakeholders
Work closely with team to educate them on and share knowledge of topical projects
Manage ad-hoc data requests
Provide reporting for business stakeholders
Prompt data literacy and understanding across the company, primarily with Research and Development and Go To Market team members
Storytelling/Data Visualization
Create/Design intuitive data visualizations to enhance cognitive understanding of the underlying data. Determine the best means of expression
Use design principles to explain complex statements and concepts, ensure consistency of analytic data products
Identify and suggest actions/responses to information presented
Design interfaces for exploring information to increase customer engagement
As appropriate, leverage advanced chart types: graphs/networks, live view event visualization, maps, etc.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE
3+ years with extracting, transforming, and reporting insights from product and business data
Previous experience in analytics on product and Business Intelligence side
General Python Literacy, Django Framework knowledge a bonus
Demonstrated ability to interact with non-technical teams and run technical discovery processes
Proven ability to creatively problem-solve in ambiguous environments and create structure and process improvements where necessary
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills with experience in process documentation
Excellent project management skills; the ability to manage many diverse workflows
Experience using SQL on multi-table relational databases
Experience working cross-functionally and partnering with other departments
Team player with desire to learn and tackle challenges across technical and organizational areas
General experience working with BI/data visualization tools like Redash, AWS Quicksight, SuperSetProven ability to work with internal business partners on data insight needs
SAMPLE WEEK IN THE LIFE
Monday: Collaborate with Product Managers to provide relevant data that enables product decision making. Manage ad-hoc requests regarding product metrics with clear insights and explanation. Participate in company-wide boost calls.
Tuesday: Collaborate with the Data Engineer regarding data collection. Several calls with business stakeholders in order to help with recent dashboards released.
Wednesday: Create queries and dashboards in data visualization tools. Manage ad-hoc requests regarding product metrics with clear insights and explanation.
Thursday: Proactively provide examples of data insights usage and educating team members on the tools you have created.
Friday: Collect and digest information from Pendo/QuickSight/Redash and relay data/insights to appropriate stakeholders.
