
Assistant Updates Editor, Performance Content (U.S. Only)

ABOUT THE ROLE AND OUR TEAM:
As a member of our digital editorial team, the Assistant Updates Editor will be responsible for ideating, writing and producing shoppable content to engage, educate and inspire The Knot Worldwide’s consumer audience during life’s major milestones. We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented editor who is comfortable writing and producing content that will perform across several marketing channels, with a particular emphasis on shoppable product roundups and optimizing market work. We’re looking for someone who will think strategically about how editorial content can drive conversions for our owned and operated e-commerce products as well as third-party partners. Extreme attention to detail, a strong work ethic, the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, a passion for learning new skills, and a positive attitude are all necessities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Write and produce 4-5 updates to existing product roundups a week for theknot.com/content; updates include product replacements and/or additions, as well as copy revisions, proofreading and additional edits based on assignment and brand guidelines
Audit existing content on TheKnot.com to identify opportunities to update and further optimize articles
Assist with affiliate link swapping and miscellaneous product update requests
Conduct keyword research to inform update strategy for copy and market work
Analyze content metrics and performance, gleaning insights and applying learnings to better inform future content
Work with other teams and departments to create strategic content opportunities
Conduct photo research and produce images for publishing
Stay current on wedding, shopping and media industries
SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES HAVE:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field. Prior internships or experience working for an online magazine = huge plus
Exceptional writing skills; 1-3 years professional experience writing for an online brand or digital publication
A passion for online shopping and familiarity with major online retailers
Experience working in a team, as well as experience collaborating cross-functionally with other teams on projects and initiatives
An extreme attention to detail
Strong commitment to hitting deadlines, accuracy and professionalism
An understanding of basic SEO best practices and keyword targeting; experience writing search-optimized copy is a big plus
Ability to multitask, stay organized and adapt in a fast-paced environment
Creativity with a wealth of fun and new ideas
An understanding of how different media consumption channels impact and inform content output
Experience working within a CMS
Experience with Parse.ly, Skimlinks, Google Analytics and/or other analytic tools a plus
Basic knowledge of Photoshop or other photo editing platforms
A good eye for design, style and trends
