Customer Marketing Lead

Aiven is a hypergrowth Platform-as-a-Service company offering the best in open-source and data technologies on multiple cloud platforms.

Headquartered in Helsinki with hubs in Berlin, Boston, Paris, Sydney, Singapore, Tokyo and Toronto, Aiven provides managed open-source data technologies, such as PostgreSQL, Apache Kafka and M3, on all major clouds.

In 2022, we raised Series D funding of $210M to fuel our global expansion, the comprehensiveness of our platform and to focus on new programs in sustainability and diversity in tech.

Open source is at our core.  We compensate our employees who contribute to open source outside of their daily work with Aiven and we have set up an Open Source Program Office (OSPO), to actively focus on giving back to the open-source community.

Our Mission and Values

Aiven’s mission is to enable customers to drive business results from open source, transforming their businesses.  We love to operate our favorite tools at scale and empower our customers, in over 60 countries, to do great work.

We live our values of courage, openness and ownership every day, and continually strive to ensure that every Aivener is empowered to contribute creatively and meaningfully, in a work environment where they have the tools to succeed and the comfort and support to be themselves.

The Opportunity

As Aiven’s Customer Marketing Lead, you will have the unique opportunity to shape how we communicate and engage with our customers. You will collaborate with our Customer Engagement, Sales, and Marketing teams to design, build, and execute a robust customer advocacy program that drives customer happiness as well as supports new business acquisition. In addition, you will own the Aiven customer marketing lifecycle end-to-end, designing campaign and activation strategies. You will work with a driven cross-functional team to generate customer engagement, build customer loyalty, and drive cross-sell and upsell opportunities.

Given that this is our first dedicated role in customer marketing, we are looking for a builder: someone who will be energized by creating our customer marketing frameworks and thinking towards what we need for the future. To succeed, you’ll need high degrees of ownership and the ability to motivate and coordinate the work of multiple stakeholders.

This role can be performed remotely in multiple locations including Helsinki, Berlin, Amsterdam, Boston, Toronto, and other locations in Europe or North America.

Responsibilities

  • Own our customer marketing framework and its execution with focus on two key pillars: engagement and advocacy

  • Coordinate and facilitate all customer advocacy activities, working closely with stakeholders from multiple functions to maximize the output we get from customer interactions

  • Manage the end-to-end creation of customer stories for marketing activities and sales enablement needs

  • Orchestrate our global customer communications across multiple channels and connect with stakeholders from Customer Engagement, Sales, and Marketing to come up with new initiatives that deepen our relationships with customers

  • Build relationships with key advocacy contacts and create a customer recognition program to ensure that our customer advocacy efforts yield mutual value

  • Define and monitor KPIs on the performance of our customer marketing initiatives to ensure effectiveness and deliver insights for improvement

  • Enable our Customer Engagement function with best practices in customer marketing and communications

Responsibilities

  • 5-6 years of relevant marketing experience, ideally in the B2B tech/SaaS space

  • Solid track record of implementing marketing initiatives to drive growth in and with existing customers

  • Experience in working with a cross-functional team to build rapport with customers in order to increase customer engagement, adoption, advocacy and referrals

  • Good understanding of marketing technology (e.g. CRM, marketing automation) and customer engagement best practices across digital and offline channels

  • Fast-paced, resilient and open to change in a rapidly growing global business that requires creativity, fast learning and out of the box thinking

  • Ability to influence, activate, and coordinate the work of a cross-functional group of people

  • Excellent communications skills in English

  • Ability to work with metrics to measure the impact of initiatives and make data-informed decisions

Benefits:

  • An agile working environment with short decision paths

  • Compensation for open-source contributions made in your free time

  • Flexible working hours, including remote work

  • Choose the devices and tools that make you work the best

  • Participation in employee stock option plan

  • Office snacks, soft drinks, treats and fruits

Please note that benefits and perks may slightly differ depending on location.

You will be part of a highly-skilled, tight-knit team, making your contribution essential to what is becoming a great success story. If you are interested, please send us your application!
