Head of Product

About the Role

This is a rare opportunity to lead the entire product strategy for a mission-driven marketplace—reporting directly to the CEO.

We’re hiring a Head of Product to lead the full product vision, strategy, and execution across our three core pillars: Renter, Marketplace, and Lister. This executive will manage our most senior product and growth leaders and be responsible for driving meaningful impact across the entire platform.

You’ll shape company-wide product direction, scale high-performing teams, and help define how we use AI to transform the renter experience. This is a hands-on, high-output leadership role for a seasoned B2C product executive with strong commercial instincts, a track record of execution, and a passion for building category-defining experiences.

What You’ll Do

  • Define and lead company-wide product strategy across Renter, Marketplace, and Lister — from user acquisition through engagement and monetization

  • Manage a high-performing team of senior product leaders, including those overseeing Growth Product, Technical SEO, and Lifecycle Marketing

  • Deliver measurable business outcomes tied to user volume, engagement, retention, and revenue

  • Partner cross-functionally with Design, Engineering, Marketing, and Data to launch intuitive products, impactful features, and compounding growth loops

  • Champion the use of AI and machine learning to personalize the renter journey, streamline decision-making, and build differentiated capabilities

  • Serve as a key thought partner to the CEO on roadmap prioritization, strategic tradeoffs, and company-wide bets

  • Set a high bar for product craft, operational rigor, and accountability across the team

  • Foster a culture of clarity, speed, and learning — balancing long-term innovation with near-term results

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years of product leadership experience in B2C or marketplace environments

  • 5+ years managing senior product leaders and/or multidisciplinary product-growth teams

  • Proven track record of scaling products with clear business outcomes (e.g. revenue growth, engagement, retention)

  • Deep fluency in product-led growth frameworks, experimentation, and compounding growth loops

  • Strong command of AI technologies — including how to apply LLMs, personalization, and ML to user experiences

  • Experience managing teams that span product strategy, growth product, and growth marketing-adjacent disciplines (e.g. SEO, lifecycle)

  • Commercial mindset — able to connect product work to P&L impact and broader business strategy

  • Highly effective cross-functional collaborator — trusted by peers in Engineering, Design, Marketing, and Data

  • Operates with urgency, clarity, and high standards — and thrives in ambiguity

  • Strategic thinker and clear communicator who can zoom in on details and zoom out to vision

Here's the Pay Range:

At Apartment List, we carefully consider a variety of factors to determine compensation for each position, including the role, level, and work. The US base salary range for this position is:

  • $270,000 - $327,000 TTC (including $230,000 - $278,000 base salary) + equity

This reflects the compensation target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Please note, the compensation details provided do not include benefits and perks that we offer. 

We also rely on market indicators along with considering your work location, job related skills, experience and relevant education and training, to determine compensation that is fair and competitive for you. Apartment List will consider paying compensation near the higher of the range in exceptional circumstances, where candidates have the experience, credentials or expertise that would warrant such consideration. It is always our goal to hire exceptional talent and we would be happy to share more about compensation during the hiring process.
