THE FINANCE TEAMis expanding under the guidance of the new CFO to both support Appfire’s explosive growth and prepare the Company to be public ready. The team has grown to over 30 globally in the last 9 months and is making significant investments across global ERP (Netsuite), procurement, and CRM (Salesforce) platforms to elevate our abilities and set the example as a world-class global finance unit. Job purpose and overview
We are looking for a Senior Accountant in Poland to report to the International Finance Director to execute Appfire’s world class financial reporting process, streamline Appfire’s financial systems, prepare Appfire to be public ready, and support Appfire’s explosive growth strategy. The Senior Accountant supervises the daily activities in the Polish accounting department, analyzes, records, tracks and audits financial information, and manages accounting staff members. The Senior Accountant is responsible for providing accurate financial data and recommendations based on their findings. This means they must be able to analyze numbers quickly while being well-versed enough with company policies to avoid making costly mistakes.
What you will do
Strategic/Growth initiatives
Build out the financial reporting capabilities of our two Polish entities to support rapid growth including into different sales channels (direct, partnership, marketplace)
Support the development, implementation, and execution of company-wide accounting policies and controls
Drive internal process improvements; help to measure and assess key performance metrics and work to identify and implement opportunities to standardize, simplify and automate accounting-related tasks at scale
Work cross-functionally with international teams to improve accounting processes and reporting to ensure efficient and accurate flow of information between teams
Support the financial reporting and financial operations integration of domestic acquisitions
Involvement with NetSuite implementation in late 2022
Support Appfire’s initiative of 4 business days close for both Polish entities (total headcount approx. 250)
Accounting
Lead general ledger, accounts payable and payroll functions for our Polish entities
Coordinate and execute period-end close activities of our Polish entities including preparation and submission of journal entries, analytical analysis over key accounts (cash, AR, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, revenues, OPEX), balance sheet reconciliations, and reporting schedules for internal and external stakeholders
Prepare, process, and file monthly VAT returns
Manage payroll, social security and benefit program
Maintain accurate and complete financial records and participate in audits or reconciliations, as needed
Oversee the daily activities of the accounting department and ensure that all major projects, month-end, and year-end reports are completed accurately and on time
Ensure that all accounting processes align with local statutory legislation
Provide research and support on the implementation of accounting policies and the accounting for complex transactions
What we would like to see
5+ years of responsibility and execution within a Polish finance or accounting function, ideally with Technology related experience (SAAS software a plus), including demonstrated success as an accountant, financial professional or auditor
Demonstrable accounting skills including payroll, social security, VAT and corporate income tax
B.S. in Accounting
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Ability to optimize operational processes and sustainably increase the efficiency of the Polish accounting department
Ability to summarize and present information concisely, both written and verbally
Desire to receive feedback and implement changes in a highly iterative manner
Impeccable integrity and empathy; words and actions must continually reinforce this characteristic
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic and changing environment
Ability to persevere and demonstrate resilience to obstacles and persist tirelessly towards set goals
Proficiency with computers, especially bookkeeping software and MS Office
Native Polish speaker and fluent in English, every other language is a plus
