Web Designer
About Us
At any given time, 15 million Americans are experiencing a crisis that requires urgent help from our legal system or government. The right assistance can transform their lives. But today, most never get it. Atticus is a startup on a mission to change that.
We're reinventing a broken space: the $100 billion market for legal services for individuals. Through proprietary technology, a top-tier team, and a network of the nation's top local law firms, we've taken a rare and exclusive commodity — access to expert legal advice and referrals — and made it free and available to everyone. To clients, we're a source of trusted guidance and an easy way to find and hire a great lawyer. To lawyers, we're a source of vetted clients and a way to build a practice they love while doing good. Today, most of our work involves helping disabled Americans qualify for government benefits. We also help victims of accidents, misconduct, and violence recover by getting compensation from insurance.
We've raised $28 million from top VC firms like Forerunner (Jet, Glossier, Warby Parker) and True Ventures (Peloton, Fitbit, Ring) and helped thousands of people in need (see our 1,200+ five-star reviews). We're small but moving fast and we're seeking great people to help in our mission.
The Role
A critical part of the Atticus customer journey is learning about who we are and how our service works. Making sure that our web presence accurately reflects our mission and strikes the right emotional chords for people in need of assistance is a hugely important job. As the Web Designer at Atticus, you’ll be responsible for translating our brand identity and our mission into beautiful and effective web pages. You’ll use your aesthetic eye as well as your sense of empathy and user understanding to design and build the web resources our customers rely on.
We’re a startup and a close-knit bunch, so you’ll be a crucial member of the Product, Design & Engineering team. You will have the opportunity to learn from members of all these disciplines as well as from other experts within the organization, and you’ll be responsible for representing and evangelizing web design throughout. We’re lucky to have a leadership team who believes strongly in the power of design, so you’ll have plenty of support as you:
Concept and design a world-class website using our brand guidelines
Develop the site in cooperation with our front-end engineering team
Build out a sustainable system for publishing article content
Iterate and experiment with landing page designs to improve conversion
Inform your design choices by getting to know our customers and their needs
What you’ll bring
At least 3 years work experience in a full-time role, collaborating with stakeholders and learning from customers
Top notch design skills and the ability to communicate using type, color, and form, with a great portfolio that showcases this work
Demonstrated comfort crafting HTML and CSS, along with a solid understanding of web standards and best practices
Familiarity with analytics reporting, WCAG accessibility compliance, website usability, and cross-browser compatibility issues
Experience working with content management systems such as Webflow and WordPress
Comfort and confidence working in an agile environment, with the capacity to shift gears and pivot based on user feedback and real-time data
A passion for helping others
