Design at Brex

The Design team brings together creative individuals with a variety of backgrounds, roles, and responsibilities. Our team joins us from fintech startups, design agencies, and Fortune 500 companies. We strive for innovation and are responsible for crafting seamless experiences across our financial platform, helping our customers get time back so they can focus their attention on scaling their business.

Brex is looking for a senior design operations manager to join the Design org. The Design org is a cross-disciplinary group of creatives including designers, writers, user research, and marketing strategists. Our team’s mission is to build a category-defining brand and meaningfully move key business metrics by delivering world-class creative.

What you'll do

You will work with product design and the broader design teams to successfully communicate, evolve and execute a strong product design operational process that drives results and showcases Brex as a leader in financial innovation. You are a crucial component of our company’s growth and product launches through your contributions on operational direction, high visual standards and focus on user needs. You take on an owner’s mentality, taking pride in your work as well as your team’s work and view what you do as a part-owner and builder of Brex.

In order for Brex’s local design teams to work at the velocity and efficiency that the technical and marketing orgs need in order to be successful, we need vertically embedded design operation managers within local teams to optimize the process and maximize the following community, both locally and globally, functional excellence, alignment, and growth and development.


  • Drive alignment across designers on respective teams and cross functional partners

  • Creative thinking and strategic execution. You will be asked to think outside of the box, and partner to push initiatives and innovation forward

  • Impact the growth and scale the design team

  • Help to facilitate each designer being single-threaded, creating more clarity, alignment, direction and integrate this into a broader design feed by representing the design team to internal partners, and provide input that will help shape planning and strategy

  • Create and maintain established workflows to create visibility of work and manage workloads, while enabling continuous improvement during projects

  • Drive team meeting cadence and strategy

  • Act as a strategic partner to Design Managers/Directors on roadmap prioritization

  • Always be acutely aware of the team’s needs and provide feedback to our design leads in order to ensure all designers have the tools they need and experience an enjoyable and balanced work environment

  • Deliver and solicit feedback to continually improve the Brex brand and raise the quality and craftsmanship of our output; maintaining brand guidelines


  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for detailed articulations of strategy and process

  • Experience developing and maintaining clean and effective processes that span across multiple teams and organizations

  • Strong ability to craft a clear narrative and paint a vision that communicates and aligns teams

  • Appetite for problem-solving and thrives in multifaceted, fast-paced environments

  • Experience implementing research into the overall UX process; research tooling acumen

  • Previous experience working with product and design teams

Bonus points

  • Experience working with tools including but not limited to Figma, Jira, Looker, Slack, Google Apps, Salesforce, Chrome Console

  • Experience both in house and in agency

  • Experience working on products in both B2B and B2C companies
