Darkroom’s internal marketing team is expanding and is looking for a Content/Video Editor to lead our content efforts across the agency. The main priority of this individual is reviewing and curating content across all of our content verticals: podcast, long-form YouTube, short-form social videos, and LinkedIn. We need someone who has perspective, taste, and a tenacious work ethic. You will be responsible for producing both short-form and long-form content, seamlessly editing and integrating audio, music, motion graphics, and text overlays to drive key brand messaging. A big part of your role will also be identifying and gathering the strongest moments from raw footage. Whether it’s a compelling soundbite from a podcast, a high-energy event clip, or a key takeaway from a webinar and turning them into impactful, shareable content. If you are a proactive editor who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has a sharp eye for detail, and understands the nuances of digital content, we would like to hear from you.
This is a fully remote role supporting a team in the EST time zone and is open to candidates based in Portugal, Spain and Brazil.
What you’ll do:
Video edit:
Edit and produce high-quality videos for Darkroom
Develop and execute “thumb-stopping” social media video edits, layer audio seamlessly and overlay text that drives key brand messaging
Choose and integrate appropriate music that complements the tone and style of the videos
Enhance the visual appeal of videos by adjusting color, contrast, and brightness to achieve the desired aesthetic
Create various formats of the same content to optimize it for different platforms
Collaborate with the marketing team to conceptualize and execute creative video ideas
Be comfortable owning content and direction while working in a fast-paced environment
Anticipate potential challenges during the editing process and proactively offer creative solutions
Properly archive and manage project files for future edits, ensuring easy acce ss to assets for revisions or repurposing content
Work efficiently under tight deadlines to meet project goals
Stay up-to-date on emerging AI tools that could speed up workflow (e.g., automated captioning, AI-driven video enhancement) and integrate them into the process when beneficial.
Able to troubleshoot issues independently, whether it’s a technical glitch, a missing asset, or a last-minute creative change.
Content edit:
Have a strong understanding of visual storytelling and design principles, ensuring that each video resonates with the Darkroom’s vision and branding
Brainstorm inventive edits and hooks that drive engagement, leverage new formats
Select and trim footage, add transitions and effects, and incorporate music and sound effects
This includes creating A/B tests and variations of the same content to learn what performs best
Provide accessible content that includes closed captioning, voiceover, and overlay text in a variety of aspect ratios
Ability to contribute to pre-production by crafting compelling narratives, hooks and structures for videos
Understanding of Marketing & Performance Metrics. Not just editing for aesthetics but with an understanding of what grabs attention, increases engagement and drives conversion
Podcast and events:
Edit podcast episodes and long-form video from events
Create bite-sized segments from full episodes that can be used for social media or other platforms
Add music, sound effects and intros/outros to enhance the listening experience
Implement subtitles and closed captions for podcast episodes to ensure accessibility
Maintain high audio quality, ensuring clear and professional sound throughout the podcast
You’re a Great Fit If You:
You have 5+ years of experience editing social media content
You have a strong creative instinct and can quickly identify the the hook for a video and the most engaging moments in raw footage
You’re highly organized and thrive in a fast-paced, iterative workflow
You’re fluent in editing tools like Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut, and have a strong grasp of After Effects, Photoshop, and other Adobe Creative Suite tools
You understand storytelling, rhythm, and pacing, and can tailor edits to different content goals (awareness, conversion, retention)
You’re comfortable taking initiative and making decisions when creative direction is loose or undefined
You know what makes content perform on social and are fluent in formats, aspect ratios, and editing styles native to each platform
You can manage multiple projects at once without dropping details or quality
You’re a great communicator and collaborator who can work closely with producers, strategists, and creative leadership
You don’t just edit what’s handed to you—you think like a producer, ask the right questions, and shape the story
Bonus if you:
You have experience editing social media content for creators, agencies, brands, founders, or personal thought leadership
You’ve worked directly on growth or performance-driven content, and understand how to make creative decisions based on metrics
You’ve created content for live events and know how to make energy and atmosphere come through in post-production
You’ve explored or adopted AI tools to speed up parts of your workflow (transcription, cutdowns, retiming)
