Designer (Motion & Graphic)

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Designer is an imperative part of the DEPT® Barbados team and helps to provide support to various clients and projects. You work with a large team and are ready to contribute by doing whatever it takes to meet and exceed the client's needs. This includes bringing as much enthusiasm for production, repurposing, resizing, and rethinking design systems as you do for crafting new ones. You are design-focused, detail-oriented, excellent at collaborating and multitasking, with strong experience in visual design and eager to be part of a team that makes things come to life. 

This special someone will be involved in design, digital experience, eCommerce, and lifestyle content to create experiences that deeply connect with people. You will be responsible for animating and editing videos to bring a story to life through 2D motion design and editing. You possess strong design intuition and want to continue to learn, grow, and challenge yourself. 

In your role, you will report to the Design Lead, who will drive the strategy and direction for the creative team. You will support the strategic goals of the company by focusing on the success of these activities and assisting with meeting the short and long-term objectives of the organization.

  • Contribute to various large-scale digital projects including social media, websites, branding, content, campaigns, and more

  • Deliver assets based on the specifications in briefs

  • Concept and iterate on different ways to bring the story to life

  • Create Motion Design assets 

  • Create style frames, proof of concepts, and more importantly great ideas

  • Find ways to bring your work to life through motion design or high-fidelity prototypes

  • Work with the team and client to build, refine, and deliver world-class animation

  • Progress yourself as well as the projects you work on

  • Solving challenges through proactive problem-solving

  • Seek simplicity and useability in everything you make

  • Maintain consistency across all pieces of communication from the product to presentation

  • Present and articulate your thinking and intention behind your work to the team and clients

  • Take on other duties and responsibilities as assigned 

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

  • Strong knowledge of visual design, user-centered experience design, interaction design, brand development, and the creative process

  • A keen eye for balance, spacing and the relationship between objects within a layout

  • A love for typography, interaction, traditional graphic design, and technology

  • Comfortable designing for social-first experiences

  • Able to execute work in support of Seniors and Leads, but also can run with explorations

  • A solid point-of-view, empathetic, collaborative nature

  • Naturally curious with an entrepreneurial and independent spirit

  • A diverse sense of taste with the knowledge necessary to apply to various challenges.

  • Passion for lifestyle, fashion, entertainment, and technology.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Graphic Design, or related discipline

  • Four or more years of professional Design experience, with solid portfolio of work

  • Exceptional graphic and motion design skills

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (AI,PS,AE,PR)

  • Experience in 3D software is an asset

  • Ability to work independently or with a team to meet deadlines

  • Excellent organizational skills and multitasking ability

  • Keen eye for detail and appreciation of great design
