Junior/Mid Level Accountant

About the team

Gorgias’ accounting team is looking for an Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Accountant. This hire must not only work autonomously, but well within a growing team and company, in addition to communicating proactively, and taking extreme ownership of their work.

You will apply your knowledge in accounting to take on accounts payable and accounts receivable responsibilities, and assist with month-end close activities, reconciliations and analysis on financial information. You will also lead the management of the day-to-day administrative functions of the finance team.

As one of the primary accountants on the team, you have the opportunities to work closely with Controller, and accounting team to ensure all bookkeeping, tax, regulatory and legal requirements are met.

What you'll do

Bookkeeping duties

• Maintain Tipalti and Netsuite vendor and customer account and transaction activity records

• A/P: Detail oriented, able to seek out inconsistencies in billing and/or inefficiencies; ensure accurate GL expense account and department coding and multi department and inter-company allocations

• A/R: Generate invoices and letters to clients, continuous follow-up on receivables

• Maintain aging schedules, and help with month end reconciliations

• Prepare year-end 1099 electronic filings

Other accounting duties

• Collaborate with Controller and external accountants to perform month-end procedures & various account reconciliations and analyses

• Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting information for management and finance team

• Review and verify the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of reported data

• Assist in documenting internal processes/controls as well as developing improvements as appropriate

Who you are

• Degree in Accounting from a four or five-year college program

• 1-3 years accounts payable or accounting experience

• Proficiency with accrual accounting

• Proficiency in Microsoft office and G Suite; Strong Excel skills a major plus (Pivot tables, nested formulas, indexing)

• Proficiency with AP software automation

• Collaborative, high-energy professional with excellent communication skills

Nice to have

• Big four accounting experience

• Previous experience at a fast-paced SAAS or start-up company

• CPA (or plans to obtain one)

• Proficiency with Tipalti and/or Netsuite
