The Role:
Halcyon’s goal is to deliver an anti-ransomware solution that breaks new ground as to what a security product can deliver. Aligned with this goal, Halcyon is looking for an experienced kernel engineer to contribute to our Windows agent’s ability to prevent, detect, respond, and remediate attacks. This development will allow Halcyon’s product to better protect customers from the threat of ransomware.
Responsibilities:
Design and implement kernel-mode components to interact with our user-mode agent
Implement security measures to protect the driver and related processes
Implement performant communication channels to transmit information from the kernel to user-mode applications
Implement tools to ensure the quality and security of the kernel component
Keep the Kernel Driver up-to-date to support the latest Microsoft Windows Releases and Patches
Implement and maintain integration components between Kernel Drivers and Windows Services
Skills and Qualifications:
Ability to develop high-quality code in C++
Knowledge and experience with Windows API, Windows Inter-process Communications Mechanisms, Windows Security Model, Portable Executable format, Windows Synchronization Primitives, and OOP / GRASP / SOLID / C++ Core Guidelines
Experience with Windows Mini-Filter drivers and Windows Filter Platform callout drivers.
Experience with debugging memory corruption issues, processing contentions, and improving system performance

Base Salary Range: $120,000 - $200,000
In accordance with applicable state and federal laws, the range provided is Halcyon’s reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location. Base pay is one part of the total package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and equity in the Company.
