Head of Product Development

Overview

HumanCentric is looking for an experienced Head of Product Development to help us identify new product opportunities in the home office market and manage the full product development process. You will be responsible for market research, business case development and financial projections, defining the product concept and detailed requirements, and managing a team of industrial designers, engineers, and creatives to bring the product to market.

You are someone who has done this before at a product-based company, and you're looking for a new challenge at a growing company in a growing market. Experience with product research on Amazon is strongly preferred.

You will be Employee #15. You will have a tremendous impact on our company on a daily basis.

This is a 100% remote position, and we are open to both domestic and international candidates. All communications will be in English, so you must be fluent in both verbal and written English.

We’ve designed and launched more than 100 products that help our customers optimize their businesses and home offices to create a well-designed and comfortable space for both work and play. Who we’re looking for

To be a fit for this job, you must have...

  • Prior experience in a product management role for a similar company.

  • Excellent data analysis skills.

  • Great design sensibility (both aesthetic design and usability)

  • Extensive experience identifying new product opportunities using efficient market research tactics such as trends in press and social media, competitor analysis, and retail analysis on sites like Amazon.

  • The creativity to accomplish a lot with less and a ferocious drive to continuously improve. We have built our company on the belief that the right person can deliver world-class results with minimal resources.

  • The ability to work both quickly and methodically. You create tremendous amounts of accurate, finished work much faster than other people you work with. You don't leave any "loose ends" when you finish your work.

  • A positive attitude and the ability to tackle large tasks with ease.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Extremely good organizational skills and careful attention to detail.

  • The desire to work in a lean, small-company environment.

  • A strong interest in using new technologies and services to enhance business performance.

Had you been with us last month, you would have…

  • Studied the market to determine if there are any opportunities to launch additional products within our existing product lines.

  • Proposed new product ideas and evaluated their financial and market viability

  • Brainstormed additional product lines that we could launch and compiled a competitive analysis for each opportunity.

  • Worked on those opportunities to create top-quality products for the home office.

  • Done market research to find out target price, maximize profitability and minimize risk.

  • Worked beside our Engineering, Supply Chain, Purchasing, and Marketing teams and the CEO to start developing our new products.

  • Developed dozens of new products, which meet the design, quality, values, and mission of HumanCentric.

  • Led an efficient Product Development team to concept, design, sketch, prototype and deliver on-trend products that offer a strong balance of feature innovation and great price/value for our customers.

  • Managed our product portfolio to optimize top-line growth and profitability by constantly evaluating and championing cost-saving measures, pricing strategies and tactics, and more.

  • Created and published appropriate documentation. Updated and maintained accurate product information.

  • Worked with cross functional teams both internally and externally to evaluate, develop, and validate new technologies/products.
