Senior Software Engineer

What JETPLAN is

JETPLAN is browser-based planning software for electrical contractors. An electrician uploads a floor plan, places symbols, works out the installation, and exports documentation the whole project team can work from. Over 1,000 companies in Germany, Austria and Switzerland plan with it.

We are a team of five, two of them engineers. We're bootstrapped and profitable. That means we set our own roadmap, we don't grow faster than we can support, and nobody here is optimizing for the next funding round.

The role

In a 2.5-person engineering team, you’ll work closely with the rest of the company to make and document architecture decisions, review code, and turn product requirements into a clear technical plan. You’ll help shape what gets built while taking broad ownership of the system’s reliability, security, and data model, with a short path from decision to production and responsibility for the code you ship.

Stack

You’ll work with a modern yet standard and type-safe tech stack: Node, React, tRPC, Postgres, Docker, GCP. S3, CI/CD, GitHub

Requirements

  • 6+ years of professional TypeScript

  • 6+ years of professional Node

  • 5+ years with a frontend framework, at least 1 of them React

  • Postgres with Prisma — we use Prisma ORM for most interactions with our Postgres database, but you should be able to write your own SQL and understand what the query planner is doing

  • Docker

  • Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines, e.g. GitHub Actions

  • A working understanding of message queues and workers

  • A working understanding of S3-type object storage

  • A working understanding of the basics of authentication, authorization and general web application security principles

  • General experience with debugging performance issues in databases, APIs, and frontend, as well as framework-specific issues (e.g. memoization in React)

  • Highly proficient written English

  • You run your own workload: you write your own issues, break work down, give estimates you believe in, and flag it early when they don't hold

Nice to have: German language skills and prior exposure to CAD, PDFs, smart home systems, electrical installations, or construction.

We prefer this role not to be fully remote. The more hybrid the better. Planning meetings, quarterlies in Stuttgart.

How we work
