We would love you to bring:
5+ years of relevant experience, including managing other researchers
Experience building, planning, and executing a successful full-cycle research program
A passion for influencing and driving strategy
Experience growing a successful research team, by coaching, growing ICs and managers, and addressing under-performance
Natural propensity towards action, being hands-on, scrappy and strategic, and have experience operating autonomously in a fast-paced environment
A relentless drive to get things done, you know what you have to do and will do what it takes to unblock any hurdles that get thrown your way
Deep expertise with qualitative and quantitative research methods, and can easily know when to use which — depending on the problem you’re solving
Experience knowing when to push for what you believe in and when to be flexible
Courage to call out risks and eracross multiple teams
Ability to consider factors beyond your immediate team to innovate, take appropriate risks, and balance short, medium, and long-term needs
Interest in identifying gaps and solutions for future growth and scale within the org, including system, product, function, partnership, culture and/or organization opportunities
A drive to identify ways to elevate and up-level Research with UX and product leadership
The ability to strategize and communicate research findings across the organization to spread the importance of user research and the positive impact it brings to the product development process, as needed from early strategic direction through post-release validation in an agile development process
Proven success in synthesizing data from various sources – interviews, surveys, and secondary research
Excellent verbal, and written communication skills. You pride yourself on sharing and evangelizing research findings clearly and compellingly to diverse audiences, including executives.
Excellent collaboration skills; able to professionally insert yourself into projects in a positive and additive manner and contribute to the financial success of the team
Belief in creating diverse, equitable, and inclusive practices and programs that will further Knock’s commitment to making an impact, learning, putting people first, being open, and courageous
Have proven success working 100% remote in prior positions & are experienced working with a distributed, national team

As a Director of UX Research, you will be:
Hands-on, action-oriented, and strategic. You are energized by the opportunity to solve ambiguous and complex user problems in the fintech and proptech space. This role will be responsible for upholding and establishing Knock’s research function; this includes influencing organizational strategy and priorities, defining and assuring best practices, collaborating with colleagues, and advising, overseeing and building a team of talented researchers. You will lead the way in some of the most strategic, complex problem research Knock has. You're a player and a coach, guiding and scaling the user research team while tackling high-impact user research projects yourself.
You’ll be the voice of the customer, a research thought leader, and continuously advocating for our users. You’ll work with stakeholders across functions and levels to drive highly actionable and meaningful research insights to inform product and feature directions. You'll work with team members to identify, prioritize and scope research needs from small to large.
You thrive on collaborating with others and have a deep passion for creating world-class products and experiences that genuinely meet the customer's needs. You have a drive for synthesizing and sharing results, and the ability to be flexible and pivot quickly. You bring your team members into your research process to grow their understanding of the user problems we’re trying to solve. You naturally build strong relationships with your product, data, design, and marketing counterparts to inform and shape discovery of new products and features.
