Unreal Engine Developer (Focus on UI)

Nekki is a game development studio, the creator of Shadow Fight Arena, Shadow Fight 3, Shadow Fight 2 and Vector. The total number of registered users for our games exceeds 1,5 billion worldwide. We develop and release games for PC, consoles, and mobile platforms.

We are currently looking for an Unreal Engine Developer to join the team of our upcoming single-player third-person action game – SPINE. This position will be focused on owning the development of UI elements for the game.

SPINE is made with Unreal Engine 5 and centered around cinematic gun-fu shootouts. It’s a third-person beat’em’up with a full set of PC gaming features, including a deep storyline, a unique setting, cutscenes, intriguing enemies, memorable bosses, character progression, and, most importantly, breathtaking battles with a wide array of firearms.

Responsibilities:

  • Own and drive the development, maintenance, and evolution of the UI systems in the game

  • Collaborate closely with UI artists to support their workflows, address technical needs, and guide them on Unreal Engine UI best practices

  • Provide support for both newly created and existing systems, including the creation of documentation and its maintenance, as well as the prevention of design decay

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to other teams as needed

  • Participate in engineering work planning, including technical discovery, requirements gathering, work breakdown, estimation, and prioritization

  • Ensure exceptional code quality by adhering to engineering excellence, which includes: code maintainability, quality, code reviews

What we are looking for:

  • 2+ years of hands-on software engineering experience in commercial game development

  • Shipped Unreal Engine games for PC or console

  • Previous experience architecting UI systems for cross-platform games (PC or consoles)

  • Proficiency in C++

  • Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to dive into complex systems and investigate the root causes of challenging issues

  • Strong skills in communication and teamwork, able to collaborate cross-disciplinary and adjust to shifting project requirements as they evolve

  • Fluent communication in Russian

Will be a plus:

  • Expertise in one or more of the following aspects of Unreal Engine:

  • CommonUI

  • UMG Viewmodel

  • Gameplay Systems & GAS

  • Custom Editor Tools

  • Experience with 3rd person action games

  • Deep familiarity and hands-on experience with Unreal Engine source code
