Data Analyst (SMB)

NerdWallet is seeking a data-driven, teamwork-focused professional for our Analytics team. This individual will provide digital data insights and innovations for our Small and Medium Business (SMB) Team. Successful candidates will work collaboratively to uncover data-driven insights and strategic recommendations for both internal and external teams, and will be expected to understand and contribute to all aspects of NerdWallet's data. Ideal candidates will be passionate, collaborative and interested in the power of FinTech to improve consumers' lives.

If you were here 6 months ago, here are some things you might have worked on:

  • Forecasting revenue for Business Loans leads

  • Define and create important metric dashboards for SMB

  • Assist Partner Data Integration team in improving partner data feeds

  • Create & improve lead-bidding algorithms

Where you can make an impact:

  • Partner with the SMB Team to analyze business opportunities. Collaborate across functional teams to model user funnels and team drive strategy.

  • Drive highly visible analytic projects and deliver data-driven recommendations to improve business results, such as testing hypotheses and analyzing performance trends.

  • Partner with SMB teams such as Performance Marketing, Business Development and Sales Operations. Potential projects include lead routing, bidding algorithms, revenue estimation and attribution, and anomaly detection.

  • Serve as a leader in defining metric calculations; partner with BI Engineers on development of self-serve dashboards to monitor KPIs and success metrics.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with partner analytics teams at NerdWallet to demonstrate shared platforms, standard processes, insights and innovations.

  • Surface insights and present results to SMB leaders using a variety of tools – Looker, Salesforce, slides, spreadsheets, etc.

  • Partnering with the Data Engineering team, assisting the SMB team with Data migrations.

Your experience:

We recognize not everyone will meet all of the criteria. If you meet most of the criteria below and you’re excited about the opportunity and willing to learn, we’d love to hear from you.

  • Expert level in SQL and handling big data (experience with Python or other scripting languages is a plus).

  • 7 to 10 years of experience in a quantitative role, preferably at a consumer technology or financial company.

  • Strategic and analytical understanding of the dynamics of a marketplace.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex analyses to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience with BI tools (Tableau, Looker, Qlikview, etc.) and constructing dashboards. Experience with Salesforce.

  • BA/BS degree (Masters a plus) - preferably in a quantitative field like Math, Statistics or Economics.

  • The salary range for this role is $121,000-$190,000.

  • Base pay offered may vary within the posted range based on several factors, including but not limited to education, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
