About the job

Offensive Security is looking for an experienced Growth Product Owner to create user experiences and features for the Offensive Security Learning Platform that deliver a delightful customer onboarding experience while driving increased product adoption and boost revenue & conversion rates. This is a key role with the opportunity to make a difference to our User Lifecycle and Product Led Growth strategies by shaping the vision and roadmap for our product. The position is responsible for the company’s user acquisition and on-boarding, self-service experiences, and leveraging the product to accelerate revenue and the company’s overall growth and success.

We have a growing distributed team of project & product management, and software web developers located throughout North America and Europe.  We are designing and building a new web platform that  is the foundation for the day-to-day sales, marketing and student learning activities.  It will be a high-traffic, consumer-facing, e-commerce web platform employing all the new modern software development technology, processes, and tools.  The Product Owner serves as the customer proxy responsible for working with product management and other stakeholders (customers, sales, customer  and student success, other product owners, etc.) to define and set priorities. The Product Owner will also work with the rest of the development team to set product backlog priorities, detail user stories and clarify team’s questions. 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Identify and validate user pain points. Gathering the context and feedback necessary to optimize and enhance the full user journey

  • Build and manage the growth product roadmap; set quarterly goals and track deliverables and results

  • Run end-to-end experiments, including defining requirements, driving cross-functional execution, and sharing insights and results

  • Partner with marketing: Build strong relationships with our marketing teams, and partner with them to build strategies and discover new paths that bring more students

  • Builds, edits and maintains the product specs consisting of user stories, business rulesDefines user stories (including pre-conditions and acceptance criteria) and provides clarifications necessary to assist the team with their story estimates and sequencing

  • Reviews and prioritizes the product backlog as part of the preparation work for iteration or sprint planning, including coordination of dependencies with other product owners, if the case. During the planning meeting, the product owner communicates story detail and priorities and ensures the team agrees on the plan 

  • Reviews the stories and validates that the story meets the business needs and the associated acceptance criteria, that it has the appropriate, persistent acceptance tests, and that it otherwise complies with its definition of done

  • Collaborates with their team and any other stakeholders in the sprint / iteration demo

  • Participates in sprint retrospective where the teams gather to improve the processes

  • Collaborates on execution plans with technical leads, product managers, other product owners and project managers for each sprint, based on in-depth understanding of the product roadmap, technology needs, and development, testing, and deployment lifecycles

  • Participates in all phases of software development (from concept to design to test to deploy to monitor to defect resolution)

  • Cultivates an environment where team members are empowered and demonstrates a strong sense of ownership

  • Communicates effectively, written, verbal, structured and unstructured to keep all the stakeholders in the loop on project status

  • Define, understand, and improve key acquisition and retention metrics, growth funnels, and viral flywheels

  • Encourages sharing of knowledge and leads by example

  • Demonstrates an unwavering commitment to excellence, team culture, and living the OffSec values

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role of B2B or B2C user lifecycle management, and a minimum of 5 years of experience as product manager or product owner in designing and documenting software requirement specifications and coordinating their implementation with the development team

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience working in agile software development teams playing roles such as product owner, business analyst or project manager

  • Expertise in A/B Testing, Multivariate Testing, Testing Methodology and Statistics, and testing tools

  • Good understanding of the software development life cycle

  • Good knowledge of tools for managing software development (ie. ticketing and documentation systems as Jira and Confluence, prototyping tools such as Moqups, Balsamique, Adobe XD or similar)

  • Good cross-disciplinary collaboration experience between engineering, product management, project management, technical operations, and internal stakeholders

  • Experience with working with a software team following the agile development lifecycle

  • Experience with e-learning platform highly appreciated

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, influencing skills

  • Solid emotional intelligence and people skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail and follow-up

  • Results-oriented, self-motivated, proactive self-starter with a passion for delivering high quality software in a high-performance team environment
