AI Image Designer

Remote Global | Reports to the UI/UX Design Lead | Up to USD $88,000 total annual cash compensation

Own AI image generation for a $1Billion+ e-commerce brand. Turn commercial briefs into consistently accurate, brand-ready imagery.

The Opportunity

You'll own AI image generation for Puffy.com, a $1Billion+ e-commerce brand, producing photorealistic hero, lifestyle and advertising imagery across e-commerce and marketing. Reporting to the UI/UX Design Lead, you'll set prompting approaches, reference workflows and production standards, apply hands-on UI/UX design to PDP and landing-page layouts, and share repeatable workflows with other designers. This is a standalone specialist role where your portfolio matters more than your years of experience.

Primary: Creative freedom without product drift

Puffy's established design system and brand guidelines set the boundaries for imagery across e-commerce and marketing. Generated environments offer creative range, but the real product still has to remain accurate and recognisable in every placement. The challenge is making AI a dependable production capability without losing product fidelity or brand consistency.

Secondary: Individual craft that others can repeat

The wider Design team needs to benefit from the specialist's capability, not depend on a single person's ability to produce a strong image. The challenge is turning individual expertise into transferable workflows that sustain quality and speed across the team.

What You'll Own

AI Image Design Responsibilities

  • Produce brand-ready imagery: Build and refine AI-assisted workflows for photorealistic product, hero and lifestyle imagery, maintaining product accuracy and brand consistency.
  • Design for e-commerce: Apply hands-on UI/UX skills to PDP and landing-page layouts with Design and CRO, including responsive design, typography, visual hierarchy and clear CTAs within an established design system.
  • Create advertising creative: Develop and test AI-generated and AI-enhanced advertising imagery in partnership with Marketing and CRO.
  • Make great work repeatable and transferable: Document and share reusable prompts, reference workflows and production standards that other designers can follow to produce consistently strong work faster.
  • Improve creative capability: Evaluate and introduce image-generation tools and models where they materially improve image quality, product accuracy, speed or repeatability.

What You Bring

What you must demonstrate

  • AI imagery portfolio: Exceptional portfolio demonstrating commercial AI-generated imagery, particularly photorealistic product and lifestyle work.
  • UI/UX portfolio: Portfolio examples demonstrating hands-on PDP and landing-page design, including responsive layouts, typography, visual hierarchy and clear CTAs within an established design system.
  • Core AI platforms: Hands-on proficiency in both ChatGPT Images and Nano Banana for image generation, editing, iteration and creative development.
  • Tool judgment: Ability to choose the right tools and workflows for image quality, product accuracy, speed and repeatability.
  • Generation and editing control: Advanced prompt engineering and visual prompting, including reference images and multimodal inputs, together with strong image-to-image, inpainting, outpainting, compositional-control and iterative-editing workflows.
  • Product fidelity: Ability to place a real physical product into generated environments without losing fidelity.
  • Production finishing: Advanced Photoshop, compositing and retouching capability to take AI outputs through to production-ready final creative.
  • Visual craft: Strong fundamentals in composition, lighting, perspective, colour, visual hierarchy and art direction.
  • Hands-on UI/UX: Hands-on capability in PDP and landing-page layouts, responsive design, typography, visual hierarchy and clear CTAs.
  • Design-system handoff: Ability to work within an established design system and brand guidelines, delivering finished layouts and assets in the formats the Design team and developers build from.
  • Workflow transfer: Ability to document and share repeatable AI creative workflows that other designers can use.

Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed.

Additional advantages

  • D2C and e-commerce: Experience with product and performance-marketing imagery for consumer brands.
  • Photography, CGI or 3D: Experience with a strong understanding of lighting, composition, materials and photorealistic product visualisation.
  • Formal training: Previous experience delivering training or workshops that help designers adopt AI creative tools and workflows.

Your First 30 Days — Mapped Out For You

Week 1 — Land well: Get access to company-provided image-generation tools, Photoshop, brand assets and product references. Complete Asana training and your role-specific AI-Native Starter Pack: prompting approaches, product-reference handling and checks for AI-generated imagery. Meet Kelly, Design, Marketing and CRO to understand the handoffs and approval boundaries.

Week 2 — Get the full picture: Review current hero, lifestyle and advertising imagery, available performance evidence and the route from brief to approval. Examine unsuccessful iterations and where product accuracy or repeatability fell short. Walk the shopping journey across desktop and mobile to understand how imagery supports PDP and landing-page decisions.

Week 3 — Start contributing: Work through an initial hero or lifestyle brief with Kelly, check the asset in its intended layout with Design and CRO, and document the prompting and validation approach. Contribute an advertising variant with Marketing and share your workflow in design review.

Week 4 — Your first ship: Take your first approved image through to publication with the relevant partner. Share an initial assessment of the production workflow, what helped protect quality and which improvement you would test next. Refine your documentation using another designer's feedback.
