
Chief People Officer
The Opportunity
Recurrent Ventures is seeking a Chief People Officer (“CPO”) to help drive our next phase of growth. The CPO will be a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for developing and overseeing all aspects of the Company’s people strategy in alignment with the company’s mission and goals. They will serve as a thought leader and adviser to the C-suite and Board on all people related matters, from culture and DE&I to employee experience and the future of work.
The CPO will readily flex between high-level strategy and day-to-day operations. They will create a strategic framework and operational roadmap to: attract, retain and develop the best talent; foster a vibrant creative and company culture; and ensure that our people feel supported in a remote-first and high-growth environment. This individual will feel a strong personal commitment to maximizing employees’ potential and enabling teams to do their best work. They will hold themselves and their team accountable by taking a data-driven approach to assessing the effectiveness of our people initiatives and continuously refining our strategy and capabilities accordingly.
The CPO will also play a critical role in supporting our M&A efforts. They will work closely with the M&A and Integrations teams to create a seamless experience for the companies that we acquire. They will develop a coherent point-of-view on how our people strategy should account for the steady pace of acquisitions and how we effectively transition those teams into the broader Recurrent organizational structure, career ladders, and culture.
Finally, this person will work closely with the COO to define and consistently monitor organizational health, determine the organizational capabilities needed to execute our business strategy, and proactively identify and develop plans to address any gaps.
Responsibilities
This individual will be responsible for developing and executing all aspects of the Company’s people strategy:
Develop the overall people strategy and vision. Create a framework for communication, measuring success, and establishing clear operational milestones and roadmap
Attract, retain, and develop strong talent by establishing a coherent and thoughtful approach across: talent strategy and recruiting, employee experience and engagement, performance management and career ladders, and learning and development
Define and monitor organizational health, including employee retention and satisfaction
Shape the company and creative culture in alignment with our mission, vision and values
Drive the company’s diversity, equity and inclusion strategy and initiatives
Lead succession planning and leadership training efforts to support the company’s goals
Build, lead and manage an exceptional People Ops team
Establish our policies around remote work for a remote-first organization; be a thought leader and bring best practices in the future of work
Manage employee relations across all level of the organization
Oversee total rewards, compensation and benefits
Manage all related software, systems, analytics, and budgets
Qualifications
20+ years in Human Resources with at least 5+ years in a leadership role
Previous experience reporting to CEO or directly supporting a senior executive as an HR business partner and overseeing all aspects of people strategy and operations
Strong media industry background with deep understanding and appreciation for the importance of creative culture and direct experience working with talent
Strong business acumen with ability to utilize data to inform strategy, evaluate effectiveness of our people initiatives, and maximize impact on company performance
Ability to develop strong relationships across all levels of the organization
Player/coach mentality with successful track record of building and leading an exceptional team and willingness to flex between strategy, tactics, and execution
Experience working for a remote-first or national or international organization with a geographically dispersed workforce
Experience working for a private-equity backed company is preferred
Undergraduate degree required. MBA or advanced degree preferred
