Job Description

You take pride in your research, you’re end users’ biggest advocate, and you’re skilled in suggesting and communicating design enhancements that align to your research findings. You love to observe and learn how people engage with software in various contexts, you enjoy talking to users and discovering their frustrations and desires, and you have the skills to translate your findings into actionable design recommendations. You’re at home when acting as a liaison between visual designers, programmers, project managers, business analysts, and clients. You can quickly jump into a project, hit the ground running and create a research plan that effectively targets the clients’ goals and provides the most value. You’re able to think on your feet to revise your research plans to continually add the most value for the client and product. You’re ready to lead discovery sessions with clients to understand how their goals align with their audience’s goals, and how they might impact the design of the software.

  • Work with product managers, designers, clients, and other stakeholders to identify research and design needs on a variety of projects while cultivating opportunities and relationships

  • Design and lead research studies that span the entire product development process, varying in approach, scale, scope, timeframe, and methodology

  • Prioritize a list of actionable outcomes and follow through on insights, ensuring they result in product design improvements, changed product priorities and/or roadmap enhancements

  • Create wireframes, information architectures, and interaction design strategy that solves problems and captures opportunities on a wide variety of projects with greatly varying audiences and organizational goals

  • Lead expert design and development teams, in a fast-paced environment with the potential to be on multiple projects simultaneously, where you’ll be pushed to quickly grow your skillset and abilities

Qualifications

  • 7+ combined years of experience in user research and UX design with an emphasis on software and digital experiences

  • Extensive experience in driving comprehensive user research programs, including researching user needs throughout the entire product development process, usability studies, and informing the product direction and strategy

  • Robust knowledge of strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase

  • Proven ability to generate and validate innovative design ideas that align with research findings

  • Ability to lead and work well with cross-functional teams, including project managers, developers, designers and stakeholders

  • Extensive experience in content strategy
