
Advertising Sales Manager
About the role
As the Advertising Sales Manager, you will work with the VP of Marketing, Senior Director, Brand Marketing, and the Senior Manager, Customer Marketing.
In this role, you will own our established advertising product revenue line, scaling it from just under $1M to a multi-million dollar revenue line. You will audit, improve, and expand our existing advertising product offerings. This includes ensuring that our pricing and inventory is ideal for scalability over time. You will identify, pitch, and close new advertising clients. You will own the advertising line end-to-end from prospecting through ad operations. You will have the ability to build an advertising team to support growth at key stages of the revenue scale.
This role is salaried plus commission. The position is ideal for a motivated self-starter with a passion for making new connections and developing relationships. You should be comfortable working remotely and autonomously; however, you will have extensive support from all departments to ensure your success.
In the short term, you will
Develop an understanding of our core business, industry, and long-term goals
Develop an understanding of current ad product operations and work with the marketing team and cross-functional partners to execute pre-booked ad fulfillment
Create continuity of relationships with existing advertisers. You will build relationships with our advertising partners, understanding their goals and previous performance
Pitch new-to-file advertisers who you’ve built relationships with in previous roles
Generate and convert new advertiser leads
Take ownership of existing sales funnels, contractors, and platforms
Capture and report sales activity
Own the ad operations process (insertion orders; asset collection; ad unit building; invoicing)
Audit our existing advertising product line and propose improvements
In the long term, you will
Own the inbound and outbound advertising sales process
Scale the advertising product line to a multi-million dollar revenue stream
What you know
You have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
You are a natural at building long-term relationships based on trust and mutual benefit with partners
You have a keen eye for partner fit with advertising products and prioritize quality over volume
You’re highly motivated by sales targets, to you, selling is fun, and building new partnerships is excited
You’re legally authorized to work in the United States and able to work US hours.
Preferred
4+ years of media sales or related experience
CRM or database management experience
A sizable book of contacts with buyers that you can contact upon accepting this role
Strong understanding of ad operations processes with the ability to develop new and improve existing processes
You believe that relationships building with your peers inside the company is just as important as developing ad partner relationships
Has created plans for advertising within the web and mobile applications

You’ll report to Derek Cann
You’ll collaborate with members of the marketing team, including Kim Fred, Lori Dennis, Katie Hammel, and Robert Feinberg.
