Senior Editor - Marketing
The Opportunity
Shorthand exists to make it easy for anyone to create amazing web layouts for anything that can be published anywhere. We’ve begun our journey by creating an easy-to-use platform for one of the most creatively and technically demanding use cases on the web — immersive feature stories — and we’re proud to count many of the world’s best known and most discerning publishers, brands, not-for-profits, and universities as loyal customers. Now we’re looking to bring the magic of Shorthand to a range of other use cases.
Shorthand is a fast-growing, investor-backed company with customers on every continent (except Antarctica!), and there’s never been a more exciting time to join our band of geeks with art and heart.
This is an opportunity for an excellent writer and editor to help scale our content engine at Shorthand.
The Role
As a Senior Editor, you’ll be responsible for managing our content process, from ideation and brief-writing to editing and publishing content produced by our contributors, freelancers, and partners. We’ll count on you to ensure all the content we publish is of the highest quality.
Part of this role will involve producing SEO-optimised content, but that won’t be your main focus. For the most part, you’ll be maintaining — and, ideally, lifting — Shorthand’s editorial standards, helping to build our reputation for excellence in our target markets. We want you to help create great content for people, not just Google.
The role comes with a high level of responsibility and autonomy, and you’ll be expected to make it your own. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an ambitious but down-to-earth team that is making an outsized positive impact in the world
Core Responsibilities
Help manage our busy content calendar for our longform content, newsletters, podcasts, and videos.
Work with freelancers, contributors, and partners to produce world-beating educational content for our audience.
Assist with website copywriting, social media, and community engagement as needed.
Track and report on the performance of our content.
Use data to boost your creativity, pushing the boundaries of storytelling and finding ways to capture the attention of your audience.
Become expert in the use of Shorthand (if not already)
Collaborate with colleagues in the product, growth, and marketing, and success teams to help our wider team produce amazing content
Contribute to the ongoing development of our content strategy
