Automation & Systems Specialist (n8n for Business Ops) 25-30hrs/week

Role: Senior Automation & Systems Specialist (n8n Expert)

Location: Remote (Europe, but having enough overlap with the American EST time zone)

Type: Contract-to-Hire (25-35 hrs per week)

Overview

SV Media is looking for a technical, security-minded Automation Specialist to serve as the engine behind our internal operations. You will be the primary builder and maintainer of a complex ecosystem of automated workflows that bridge the gap between Finance, Compliance, and Business Operations.

This isn't a "set it and forget it" role. We need a systems-thinker who understands that in the financial sector, a broken workflow isn't just an inconvenience—it’s a risk. You will work directly with our Lead Automation Engineer to translate high-level business logic into resilient, secure, and scalable technical reality. Acting as a Fractional AI integrator, trainer to the CEO and strategic partner.

The Role & Responsibilities

• n8n Mastery: Design, build, and maintain sophisticated end-to-end workflows using n8n as our primary orchestration layer.

• System Integration: Stitch together various APIs, internal databases, and third-party tools (SaaS) into unified, automated streams.

• Security-First Development: Implement rigorous security protocols for every automation, including credential management, data encryption in transit, and "least privilege" API access.

• Operational Resilience: Build robust error-handling, alerting, and monitoring frameworks to ensure 100% observability across all automated tasks.

• Data Stewardship: Handle sensitive financial and user data with extreme care, ensuring all workflows comply with strict data privacy and fintech regulatory standards.

• Optimization: Audit existing manual processes across BizOps and Finance to identify and execute "quick-win" automations.

• Training: Train and Consult the current AI integration team

What We’re Looking For

• Deep n8n Fluency: You should be able to build complex, multi-branch workflows in your sleep.

• Fintech/Security Mindset: You understand the unique challenges of handling data in a regulated environment. You don't just care if the code runs; you care how the data is protected.

• Technical Versatility: Strong grasp of JavaScript (for Function nodes), JSON, Webhooks, and REST APIs..Not mandatory, but desireable. N8N knowledge is a must, and knowledge in a building 0→1 for clients that are just starting with the implementation

• Problem Solver: You thrive in 0→1 environments and enjoy building structure out of ambiguity.

• Communication: Ability to document workflows clearly so they are understandable by both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

   • Show us 1 or 2 complex n8n workflows you have personally built and deployed.

   • Crucial: Explain your approach to security and data handling. Specifically, how did you handle credentials, sensitive data masking, or compliance requirements within those workflows?

   • Walk us through how you handled (or would handle) error states and alerting in a high-stakes environment like fintech.

2. Portfolio/GitHub: Any relevant links to your previous automation work or custom nodes.

The top 5 candidates will be invited to complete a technical case study. This will involve a real-world scenario where you will be asked to architect a secure automation solution based on specific operational requirements. If the case study goes well, there is a lot of room for growth!
