About the Role

The Senior Executive Producer will be responsible for the end to end production of The Athletic’s new NFL podcast, Scoop City,  and will drive the creative direction for what the show covers and how it does it . The role will help translate the considerable knowledge of the show’s hosts into informative, entertaining, and engaging segments that make the show an absolute must-listen for anyone who claims the NFL as their favorite TV show. 

This is a remote-based position in the United States or Canada. 

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end production of Scoop City. 

  • Build a forward-looking coverage plan across the show’s first season under production. 

  • Deliver a fresh perspective on topics to cover, and spearhead creative conversation on segments and formats. 

  • Help synthesize what’s happening in real time on any given day to make sure the show is covering the most urgent topics in the most effective way possible.

  • Steward video strategy so the show is optimized on YouTube and for social. 

  • Book guests and create dynamic moments where the show is commanding attention. 

  • Help the show(s) reach its ambitious growth targets.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience producing a national broadcast in an audio or video format.

  • A deep understanding of professional football  with a fluency in how topics are covered and discussed by fans.

  • Expert knowledge of podcasts including creative direction, structure, recording and editing.

  • Ability to manage day to day operations while also planning long-term and building coverage plans around tentpole events. 

  • Ability to capitalize on major storylines to achieve step-function growth.

  • Self-starter with great time management skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized.

  • Working understanding of the importance of video to podcasts in the current marketplace. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Some travel may be required.

  • This is a remote-based position in the United States or Canada. 

The annual base salary range for this role is $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 USD. The total compensation offered for this position may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, and location. It may also include non-cash rewards and benefits. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
