Director, Supply Chain & Operations

THE ROLE

We’re looking for a Director of Supply Chain Operations to own the critical process of Demand & Supply Planning, Procurement and Master Data at Thrive Market.  We’re on a mission to bring healthy affordable food to every American, and that starts with making sure we have the right inventory at the right place at the right time.  The Director will be responsible for designing and building a system for scale.  

Our ideal candidate is a strong people leader who can lead a team with the diverse disciplines of demand planning and forecasting, supply planning, procurement and Item Master Data. Your team will work with merchandising and marketing teams to plan demand and work with suppliers to create a supply flow capable of achieving the highest possible in-stock rates at lowest cost. Over time it is important for this leader to build resiliency and capabilities that make our supply chain a strategic enabler for the organization. This Director of Supply Chain Operations will report to the VP of Supply Chain and Fulfillment Operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work cross-functionally to drive and execute strategy and represent our Supply Chain team

  • Analyze data and key metrics to create messaging and creative solutions for our cross-functional teams and key stakeholders

  • Establish internal and vendor performance to the next level by driving actions and holding supplier development business reviews

  • In partnership with our wholesaler and other vendors and Thrive Market Operations, develop supply chain strategies to increase in stocks, reduce transit time and improve product margins

  • Work closely with vendors to take advantage of forward buy, and promotional discount opportunities to drive margin improvement

  • Reduce landed cost by directly sourcing inbound transportation from vendors to our FCs including international sourcing for Thrive brand private label products

  • Effectively communicate inventory predictions and constraints by balancing a strong point of view with team-orientation 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of experience in supply chain and demand planning, E-commerce experience preferred

  • Technically savvy: Strong ability to gather and analyze data to inform decisions and take action using Excel/Google Sheets, with ERP skills a big plus (NetSuite preferred)

  • Exceptional presentation skills and ability to convey a message that is understandable and relevant, linking business issues, financials results and strategy

  • Familiarity with demand planning and forecasting tools, (Relex preferred)

  • Process-oriented: Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing experience a plus

  • Ability to work cross functionally and build strategic partnerships, internally and externally to drive continuous improvement and implementation

  • Comfort with ambiguity, uncertainty, and a rapidly evolving business landscape
