6sense is seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting to join our growing team. This role will be responsible for ensuring that revenue is recognized accurately, timely and in compliance with US GAAP and company policies. Additionally, this role will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement new systems, processes and controls to support revenue recognition and financial reporting.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in revenue accounting for SaaS companies, experience with revenue technology implementations, and a proven track record of managing complex revenue accounting processes. This position reports to the Director, Revenue.
What you will do:
Manage the revenue accounting function, including overseeing the review and documentation of revenue contracts, establishing and maintaining revenue recognition policies, and managing revenue-related audit inquiries in accordance with ASC 606
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Legal, and Operations, to review customer contracts, identify revenue recognition issues or risks, and determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment aligned with ASC 606
Manage the revenue close process, including reviewing revenue journal entries, reconciling revenue accounts, and analyzing revenue variances
Lead revenue accounting transformation initiatives, including the evaluation and implementation of revenue recognition software, financial reporting systems and tools, and process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
Develop and maintain strong internal controls over revenue recognition and ensure compliance with SOX requirements.
Lead US GAAP audit deliverables for revenue with external auditors.
Provide technical accounting expertise on revenue recognition matters and stay up to date on emerging accounting standards and industry trends related to revenue recognition
Manage and develop a team of revenue accounting professionals to ensure the timely completion of revenue accounting deliverables
Partner with cross-functional teams to define business requirements and data needs for new systems and tools, ensure data integrity, and oversee testing and deployment of new systems and tools related to revenue recognition
Conduct regular assessments of revenue processes and controls, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes to drive efficiencies and improve financial reporting accuracy
What you will need:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required; CPA preferred
10+ years of progressive experience in revenue accounting for technology companies, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
Strong knowledge of US GAAP revenue recognition standards, including ASC 606, ASC 605, and SOX compliance requirements
Experience leading and managing cross-functional projects, including revenue technology transformation initiatives
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to identify and resolve complex accounting issues
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex accounting concepts to cross-functional teams and senior management
Comfortable with ambiguity; the ability to structure ideas into actionable plans
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and manage competing priorities
Experience with revenue and accounting systems required; Salesforce Revenue Cloud/CPQ and Sage Intacct a plus
Experience managing and developing a team of revenue accounting professionals
IPO experience highly preferred
Base Salary Range: $130,000 to $170,000. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including but not limited to work location and experience. The base salary is one component of 6senseās total compensation package for this position. Other compensation may include a bonus program or commission plan, and stock options if approved by 6senseās board. In addition, 6sense provides a variety of benefits, including generous health insurance coverage, life, and disability insurance, a 401K employer matching program, paid holidays, self-care days, and paid time off (PTO).
