Lead Product Manager
We are 8th Light, an employee-owned, remote-first software consultancy. We're driven by our deep commitment to excellence, and powered by our collective depth of knowledge and experience. Our team of experts in product, design and development all reflect our dedication to quality and our emphasis on continual learning. We value colleagues who enjoy learning and teaching, which creates our collaborative organization. We enjoy working with empathetic, passionate collaborators who value the work they do. We embrace the need for adaptability in a constantly changing world.
As a team of specialists and generalists — thinkers and doers, we are ready to take on most any challenge that we encounter. We remain positioned to help an ever growing portfolio of client partners. If this approach to product management, design and software development resonate with you, we'd love to talk. You'll have opportunities to further your expertise as a Lead Product Manager (Consultant), through a multitude of project contributions and client engagements but also through working directly with senior leadership, including the Head of Product at 8th Light.
Who You Are
You've held positions with increasing responsibilities as a Product Management steward but also as an independent contributor, allowing for your oversight and ownership of multiple software solutions shipped to production successfully. Through your experience and collaboration with teams inside and outside of engineering and the design domain you have deepened the trust and confidence others have in Product Management’s capabilities to steer a project to beneficial outcomes for business stakeholders and users alike. You describe yourself as being most inspired when you can bring others on a journey conceptually and pragmatically. In the past, you have also successfully:
8+ years of experience in software development (SaaS or professional services) with a proven track record of leading and scaling 3+ software products from concept to launch.
5+ years of experience in a senior or lead Product Management role with demonstrated team leadership, mentorship, and stakeholder management experience
Experience building AI/ML-powered products or features.
Experience conducting customer research and implementing product analytics, using feedback to improve product outcomes.
Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams (design, engineering, project management, leadership).
Demonstrated ability to prioritize initiatives, balancing short-term needs with long-term vision.
Strategic and consultative thinker with the ability to contribute to both 8th Light company strategy and customer product vision.
Excellent communication skills with experience in thought leadership activities (e.g., content creation, public speaking).
What You'll Do
At 8th Light you'll nurture and support formative discussions with business leaders, technologists and customers in an effort to convert product management practices into high quality and shippable software solutions that delight. You will bring your expertise, accumulated knowledge and experience into engagements to validate objectives and support strategic alignment to customers’ desires for mutually beneficial outcomes. In addition you will:
Oversee and execute product activities like discovery, research, and requirements for clients and their end users.
Leverage human-centered design, lean and agile principles to deliver intuitive, engaging, high quality software.
Provide strategic recommendations and roadmap guidance for Enterprise clients.
Own product strategy and go to market plans alongside key stakeholders for mid-size to scale up clients.
Support innovation and the cohesion of ideas and processes that inspire creativity and new product offerings and features.
Drive the setting and meeting of milestones alongside the business, delivery, design and engineering teams.
Be an active participant in shipping product features into a production and market ready state.
Engage with external peers, partners and other industry contacts that evolve your knowledge of trends, latest strategies and best practices.
Nice to Have
In addition to the above stated qualifications and experience, 8th Light would also like to encourage candidates with the following to consider this opportunity:
