Graphics/Motion Designer

The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for a Graphic/Motion Designer to support our government customer located in Arlington, Virginia. This position is 100% remote.

This position combines the duties of a Senior-level Graphic Designer (print) and a Motion Designer (videographer) in support of the Naval Information Warfare Systems Command’s (NAVWAR’s) Program Executive Office (PEO) for Manpower, Digital out of the National Capital Region (NCR). The PEO MLB program encompasses Administrative, Total Force Management Support, and Corporate Communications & Public Affairs Support, Command Operations, and Support, and IT Management Support services. 

The dual-roled “Graphic/Motion Designer” reports to the government lead of PMW 240’s Enterprise Change Management (ECM) Department. The position plays a key role in providing print and video change management products in support of large strategic IT initiatives. This hybrid role is responsible for assisting in the creation of interesting and educational motion graphics for video, as well as developing, designing and delivering professionally laid out print and web projects. Essentially, the G/M Designer will create and implement graphic and video products in a mixed-media environment and integrate them into ECM and Public Affairs products and tools.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Expertly develop/deploy graphic designs per guidance into a mixed-media environment and gauge effectiveness of the products.

  • Work with stakeholders and various vendors at all levels to field requirements and develop media products.

  • Develop detailed illustrative graphics in partnership with ECM and PAO leads.

  • Partner closely with project leaders to manage execution of change activities in alignment with project plans.

  • Assist in developing video production plans and implement via directed outlets such as social media, websites, etc. (both internal and external)

  • Help with planning, setting up, directing and operating video equipment and adding graphics, effects and sound to final products.

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality designs within specified deadlines.

  • Conceptualize and create visually informative motion graphics for a range of projects, including but not limited to promotional and educational videos, animated explainer videos, and various dynamic presentations.

  • Adapt illustrations and animations for different video delivery mediums, including web and social media, considering the specific requirements of each.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand specific project goals and translate ideas into engaging visual narratives.

  • Stay updated on industry trends and tools and incorporate these in order to enhance overall creative output.

  • Design and layout web and print publications, posters and related communications vehicles, ensuring a consistent and appealing visual representation in keeping with Navy style guidelines.

  • Develop and execute creative solutions for print and digital materials, such as brochures, reports, etc.

  • Work closely with PAO and ECM teams to understand content requirements and deliver designs that align with audience messaging guidance.

  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Master’s Degree plus ten (10+) years of experience (Preferred Communications, Journalism, Graphic Design, Film, Broadcasting, English, or related field)

  • Or Bachelor’s Degree plus additional four (4+) years of experience fourteen (14) years total

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in graphic layout and design with a portfolio of diverse projects.

  • Experience in motion design with a portfolio of diverse projects.

  • Proficiency in industry-standard design and motion software, such as Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).

  • Understanding of computer software used for planning, editing and scripting

  • Solid understanding of design principles, typography, and color theory.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Knowledge of video editing and post-production techniques.

  • Familiarity with publication design and layout best practices.

  • Excellent oral and written skills.

  • Excellent project management and time management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.

  • Basic skills in Microsoft Publisher, InDesign and related layout programs.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced and rapidly shifting environment.

  • Experience as a senior level contributor/specialist, able to provide consultation on complex projects.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous Navy experience highly desired.

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

  • Must have an active Secret Clearance.
