About the Role

AllTrails is where the outdoors comes to life, and this role is for a designer who thinks the same way. As part of our product design team, you’ll work at the intersection of craft, product thinking, and technical curiosity. You’ll map user behaviors, iterate features, and use code and AI as creative tools to explore possibilities. You’ll own work end-to-end and ship things that matter to millions of outdoor enthusiasts.

What You’ll Be Doing

Collaborate cross-functionally to identify opportunities, make decisions, and ship meaningful product updates.
Ideate on behavioral loops that encourage participation and leverage organic growth mechanics (social sharing, challenges, achievements, user-generated content).
Design experiences that communicate membership value and scale across markets with local relevance.
Systemize motions and transitions to guide user attention and confirm actions.
Use AI tools with sound judgment, leveraging front-end code as a medium for exploration and communication.
Contribute to and evolve the design system.

What You Bring

2–4 years of professional experience designing and shipping consumer-facing digital product features across iOS, Android, and web.
Experience taking ideas from concept through release and learning from post-launch performance.
Strong product execution with sharp visual, interaction, and motion design judgment.
Builder mentality: comfortable using code as a design medium and exploring technical implementation.
AI fluency: skilled at prompting, supplying context, evaluating outputs critically, and iterating toward high-quality results.
Strong design systems thinking: balancing speed with long-term system health.
Strong digital presence with demonstrated ability to engage and grow communities online.

Bonus Points

Active participation in outdoor activities (hiking, running, camping, climbing, etc.).
Experience designing for subscription-based business models.
Hands-on experience with AI-native products, agentic workflows, or multimodal interfaces.
Experience designing for international audiences or living/working/studying in global markets.
Illustration skills with solid understanding of color theory and visual storytelling.

Salary range: $85,000–$110,000 per year (final offer based on experience and skills, meeting/exceeding location-specific thresholds).
