
Senior Director of Creative
Articulate is looking for an exceptional Senior Director of Creative to lead our marketing design team and tell the Articulate story through visual media. This role will report to our CMO.
The Senior Director of Creative will manage and grow an expanding team of talented designers and animators across a variety of disciplines. You’ll be responsible for directing all digital and traditional brand and marketing design, illustration, video production, and motion graphics.
As the Senior Director of Creative, you’ll be responsible for creating new ways to tell compelling stories in ways that break through the noise to reach specific audiences. You’re a master storyteller with flawless execution in all visual mediums, and an inspirational leader who guides a high-functioning team to produce assets that engage, inspire, and delight audiences.
What you'll do:
Oversee all advertising, branding, marketing design, and social creative to effectively tell our brand and product stories
Build and manage a growing team of talented creatives across a variety of creative disciplines including traditional brand work, digital/interactive design, motion graphics, illustration, and video production
Collaborate with demand gen, product design, communications, and engineering teams to understand every aspect of the Articulate story and create visual assets that tell this story in ways that deeply impact our target audiences
Leverage a deep understanding of design principles to provide highly detailed feedback to team members, helping them transform concepts into polished designs
Lead creative development and execution on new visual design treatments and concepts to evolve our visual storytelling and keep our design work competitive with top consumer/saas companies
Execute high-quality, industry competitive design work when team isn’t able to visualize direction for a new project through use of mood boards or competitive audits
Intelligently identify new opportunities for the design team to deliver motion and prototype work that will help better tell our brand and product stories
Meet with executive and product management team regularly to discuss and prioritize team work, resources, and plan strategically against the product roadmap
Direct the video production team to produce high quality, on brand video assets and motion graphics
Drive team productivity with effective distribution of work among team members
Support the growth of our designers and animators, helping them sharpen their creative skills and embrace a shared aesthetic and vision
Guide our marketing design team to build well-structured, internal design systems, design resources, templates, and other assets to optimize consistency and production
Ensure a successful exchange between design and development to drive digital marketing projects forward, identify blockers, and resolve
Work closely with the design team in testing recently built marketing pages and/or living assets including responsive testing to make sure projects are completed to spec
Develop and nurture a culture centered around good design, collaboration, and thoughtful decision-making
Maintain accurate and current knowledge of new design techniques and applicable brand/marketing design trends
What you should have:
10+ years of hands-on experience in visual design, including web design, motion graphics, branding, digital design, and tradition print design
You have a refined eye for design across a variety of platforms with the ability to direct creatives in multiple channels including digital marketing, traditional branding, photo/video production, and motion graphics
Highly experienced in Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop and most of Adobe Creative Suite
You have successful prior experience in a senior art director or creative director role for a an impressive consumer app, agency, or a remarkable portfolio
Shifting context comes easy to you and you enjoy collaborating with team members to help them get the most out of and refine their skills
Working cross-functionally with a variety of teams and stakeholders is a familiar process for you, including fostering a healthy relationship between creative and development teams
You are comfortable helping project management to prioritize a team’s work, setting deadlines, delivering constructive feedback, and resolving conflicts
You possess passion and know-how for creating amazing brand design systems and an appreciation for elegant digital design that speak to a brand
You are full of creative ideas and a proponent of thorough testing to get materials right and improve upon them in an iterative cycle
Excellent verbal and written communication skills—and a thoughtful, trustworthy doer
Ability to build positive, collaborative relationships with folks across different teams and at all levels of the organization
Resilient, adaptable, and thrives in a fast-paced environment
Four-year college degree or equivalent experience
