Freelance Copywriter & Translator - German

This is a fully remote freelance opportunity and is open to candidates in any location.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Brafton is looking for a skilled German Writer and Translator to create original German content and translate website copy from English into German. The ideal candidate will possess native-level German fluency, strong writing skills, and a keen eye for cultural nuance, ensuring translations read naturally and align with brand tone and voice.

The copy writing will involve creating strong, creative, and industry-specific pieces that are incorporated into content marketing campaigns for Brafton's Germany-based clients. Client experience is paramount for us, meaning you are expected to conduct subject matter interviews with client contacts. Viable candidates must handle long-form articles and web copy on deadline.

This is an ongoing, part-time freelance opportunity involving translation, research, interviews, ideation, and writing.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Write compelling, accurate, and engaging content in German.

  • Translate website content from English to German, ensuring linguistic accuracy, cultural relevance, and brand consistency.

  • Collaborate with marketing, SEO and project management teams to meet project deadlines and quality standards.

  • Conduct research to ensure correct context and terminology use, especially for industry-specific topics.

  • Adapt tone and style for different audiences and content types.

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Native-level German proficiency, with excellent grammar and writing skills.

  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

  • 1-3 years of professional writing experience.

  • Proven experience in writing and translation (portfolio or samples required).

  • A bachelor's or more advanced degree.

  • Excellent writing and editing skills with an extreme attention to detail.

  • Comprehensive understanding of SEO and best practices for branded writing.

  • Strong, efficient research abilities and the ability to quickly learn, understand, and write about complex subjects.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with a desire to work in a fast-paced, high-volume, deadline-oriented environment.

  • A creative approach to client briefs and content marketing goals.

  • Strong videoconferencing presence for client meetings.

  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently and in collaboration with other team members in a fully remote environment.

  • Knowledge of AP (Associated Press) Style is a plus.
