Community Broadcast Coordinator

About You

You are a passionate Chess.com community member who “knows” chess and understands the landscape of chess events, both online and offline. Reporting directly to the Director of Community Operations, you are the glue between the broadcast team and the community team. Overseeing the aspects of community integrations to our online events, you will ensure our team of moderators has the support needed for broadcast events. You have an uncanny ability to communicate the wants/needs of others to support operational solutions through our broadcasts.

What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate all communication and tech for chat moderation and coordinating assignments and responsibilities for moderators

  • Help execute the moderation strategy during our broadcast

  • Fully own the moderator scheduling and help manage the team

  • Be present at broadcasted shows and liaise between broadcast, community, and other relevant teams during our broadcasts

  • Provide our broadcast with featured chat messages throughout the shows

  • Lead on event marketing implementation with moderation and community spaces

  • Report on chat activity metrics and work with the Community team to engage our audience

Preferred Skills

  • Extensive knowledge about streaming/gaming culture, and with familiarity with the recent growth of chess in these environments

  • In-touch with the chess community on platforms like Twitch, YouTube and Discord

  • Experience with managing chat commands and constructing precise communication for a chat environment

  • Experience with managing a mixed team of staff and volunteers

  • Experience with spreadsheets and data manipulation

  • A passion for chess, community, and chess entertainment

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills working in a fully distributed team

  • Sense of ownership and responsibility
