Motion Designer
At Dijitally, we’re on a mission to bring world-class creative talent to one of the leading companies in the BNPL space. We’re hiring on behalf of Afterpay to help them build an exceptional in-house creative team. If you’re a motion designer who thrives on turning ideas into compelling content that captivates and converts, this opportunity is for you!
The opportunity
The Australian-based Afterpay Creative team is looking for a motivated Motion Designer. We’re looking for a proactive problem-solver and a natural collaborator who can help bring our brand, products, stories and campaigns to life through motion. You’ll work from scripts, storyboards and campaign briefs to design, animate and refine content that feels distinctly “Afterpay” – for campaigns, product storytelling, partnerships and brand moments across all our markets. This role will be fundamental in helping to shape Afterpay’s motion branding as we evolve.
Summary of the role
Be a brand and craft champion that understands and extends our visual and motion style guides
Align to brand and design systems to create a cohesive experience across 2D, 3D, motion and product surfaces
Own the end-to-end 3D animation process: from interpreting briefs, blocking and layout, through to polish and delivery for multiple channels
Bring hands-on experience with generative AI tools such as Midjourney, Adobe Firefly and Google Veo, using them to supercharge creative, not cut corners
Prepare and optimise assets for various outputs (social, web, in-app, DOOH, experiential, broadcast) including lighting, rendering and basic compositing where needed
Stay across emerging trends in AI, 3D, motion, tools and platforms, proactively bringing new ideas and techniques into the team
Who are you?
Like us, you’ll be deeply committed to delivering positive outcomes for our merchants and customers and are passionate about shaping the future of Afterpay.
Minimum 5+ years of motion design experience in a studio, agency or in-house brand environment, with a strong understanding of animation principles, timing and storytelling
A strong portfolio or reel showcasing your work across relevant channels (e.g. campaigns, product storytelling, social content, brand films, motion graphics)
Proficiency in industry-standard 3D tools such as Maya, Blender, 3ds Max or Cinema 4D, plus Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects in particular); experience with Figma or similar design tools is a plus
Experience with character animation (including facial expressions and lip sync), camera work, and animating products or abstract forms in 3D
Comfortable working within existing rigs and pipelines, and partnering with modelers/riggers when needed
Solid understanding of lighting, materials, rendering and basic compositing to achieve polished final outputs
An ability to take on feedback, iterate quickly and collaborate respectfully – even when you don’t 100% agree
An infectiously positive attitude, a keen eye for trending inspiration in motion design and animation, and an open mind to new ways of working
Willingness to grow and learn, including experimenting with new formats such as AR, VR or real-time engines (e.g. Unreal or Unity)
How we work
We work in a hybrid environment, both from home and at the Afterpay office in Sydney or Melbourne. There are a vast amount of tools and services that will help you complete your work in any environment.
