Platform Engineer

Overview: 

Due to our ongoing growth, we are looking for 2 skilled and enthusiastic Platform Engineers to join our product-engineering team. Acting as an experienced developer in this pivotal role, you will not only support our team with your expertise but also lead the development of key product functions and features. You'll have the chance to shape the back-end development of our application, architecting key features, and advising on the latest technology choices.

Salary - Up to £60,000, based on your previous experience
Location - Home based in the UK
Type - Full-time, 40 hours, Permanent
Reports to - Lead Engineer
Direct reports - N/A

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver new features and non-functional requirements.

  • Working closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, engineering, and DevOps, to ensure our platform is scalable, reliable, and secure.

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and implement solutions to ensure our platform’s high availability and performance.

  • Develop and champion platform best practices.

  • Work closely with product managers, developers, and customer success teams to understand integration needs and align them with our business goals.

  • Design and develop APIs, connectors, and middleware to facilitate smooth data exchange between our solutions and third-party systems.

  • Architect new database structures and relationships.

  • Ensure data security and compliance standards when handling sensitive information during development processes. 

  • Collaborate with QA teams to test and validate solutions, ensuring reliability, performance, and data accuracy.

  • Document development processes and provide technical documentation to support internal teams and clients.

  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software development.

About you:

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A deep understanding of software architecture and design patterns.

  • Experience in building and scaling complex SaaS products.

  • Proven experience in PHP engineering, preferably in a B2B SaaS environment.

  • Strong proficiency in PHP and Laravel, or a widely adopted MVC framework (e.g., Symfony).

  • Experience with Agile development methodologies, particularly Scrum.

  • Ability to write code with performance and scalability in mind.

Not required, but a bonus if you have:

  • Experience with API development and RESTful services.

  • Solid understanding of API authentication, security protocols, and data privacy considerations.

  • Good understanding of MySQL best practices and performance.

  • Familiarity with NoSQL technologies.
