The Opportunity 

As our footprint grows, we have an ever-expanding set of campaigns, tentpole events, assets, webpages, videos, sales material, and other marketing collateral that needs timely support to be created. The Creative Manager role will be a player-coach, actively creating new elements and expanding our design system to ensure synergy across consumer touchpoints, designing assets and collateral, while working with two Marketing Designers to elevate the Flock Safety brand and brand assets. 

You will help bring the Flock Safety story to life on FlockSafety through dynamic, elevated web experiences; manage the product photography library to ensure we always have the latest items to support campaigns; create flagship and long-form branded content (annual reports, ebooks, whitepaper, thought leadership, etc.) in various media; create marketing campaign assets (RTCC, FlockOS® 911, etc.); support a video component library (lower thirds, animations, etc.); and any other marketing projects that may arise for the business. The goal is to make design at Flock better, faster, and more beautiful each day.

By adding a Creative Manager to the team, we’ll be prepared to best support all requests that flow through to the Brand, Content,Design, and Video team – while proactively showing the world how Flock’s products and services make the world a safer place.

The Skillset 

  • 7+ years of visual design experience

  • 3+ years experience managing designers

  • Advanced Webflow design experience

  • Expert-level experience in Adobe Creative Suite 

  • Expert-level experience in Figma

  • Experience in animation or motion graphics  

  • A compelling portfolio of relevant design work across websites, branded content, digital marketing campaigns, product photography, video, and content marketing 

  • A strong understanding of typography, composition, color, layout, design thinking, and how this correlates to brand and content strategy

  • A high-level of comfort working in a fast-paced, ever-evolving startup environment 

  • A sense of urgency and are not afraid to take risks

90 Days at Flock

We are a results-oriented culture and believe job descriptions are a thing of the past. We prescribe to 90 day plans and believe that good days, lead to good weeks, which lead to good months. This serves as a preview of the 90 day plan you will receive if you were to be hired as a Creative Manager at Flock Safety. 

The First 30 Days

  • At the end of 30 days, you have established a workflow and plan with the design team for creating content that moves the business forward.

    • Refine intake process for newly requested assets and establish an SLA for turn times on common requests.

    • Audit and recommend expansions to the current visual direction.

    • Start to develop new templates and visually dynamic content across media types.

    • Rollout improved slide decks 

    • Launch two new web experiences 

    • Deliver a set of animated templates for video

The First 60 Days 

  • At the end of 60 Days, our expanded design language should be established.  You should have a clear plan for how to support marketing campaigns, content marketing, product photography and video components alongside the website duties with timeliness as a pivotal component.

  • You are owning the Monday board as the primary queue for marketing design.

  • Design 2 long-form content pieces for multiple formats 

  • Manage our email signature campaigns.

  • Assessed our current product photography library.

90 Days & Beyond 

  • At the end of 90 Days, you are rolling.  You have ensured that Flock has the process, templates, and workflow in place to create on-brand content from design to publication on FlockSafety and across all touchpoints. You are leading design projects as assigned with oversight from the Director, Brand & Content. 

    • Guide the project management of design with precision and poise

    • Act as the in-house expert for all things design and provide feedback and guidance on design questions 

    • Proactively advise on new page ideas and designs for upcoming projects

    • Maintain a clean and easy-to-navigate product photography library

    • Advise on how to keep Flock Safety’s brand fresh, relevant, consistent and top-of-mind for all customers, stakeholders and potential employees

    • Support Product Launch efforts with any website and/or campaigns needs

    • Visually enhance our social presence to build engagement and awareness

What a typical week may look like

  • 35% Marketing Campaign Support: Supporting Marketing and cross-functional partners with visual design expertise and innovation through brainstorm, ideation and execution of final design assets – the goal being an elevated & cohesive design system

  • 35% Flagship Content Support: Supporting the company by creating innovative and thoughtfully-designed flagship content pieces for use across digital platforms

  • 20% Webflow Content Production: Supporting the company by creating experiences and pages on FlockSafety to support business and marketing objectives

  • 5% Video Component Creation: Support video creation with an ever-evolving template library of animations, graphics and visual options

  • 5% Product Photography: Supporting Marketing and cross-functional partners with visual direction, maintenance and leadership on product photography shoots and needs

The Interview Process 

We want our interview process to be a true reflection of our culture: transparent and collaborative. Throughout the interview process, your recruiter will guide you through the next steps and ensure you feel prepared every step of the way. 

  1. Our First Chat: During this first conversation, you’ll meet with a recruiter to chat through your background, what you could bring to Flock, what you are looking for in your next role, and who we are. 

  2. The Hiring Manager Interview: You will meet with your potential future boss to really dive into the role, the team, expectations, and what success means at Flock. This is your chance to really nerd out with someone in your field. 

  3. The Technical Assessment: Our technical assessments seek to test the hard skills required to do the job. Engineers may find themselves in coding interviews or architecture discussions, sales roles may present mock discovery calls, and leadership roles may craft 90 day plans. Your recruiter will inform you of which assessment you will be assigned and ensure you are fully prepared for your big day. 

  4. The Panel: Learn more about the team, responsibilities, and workflows. You should be prepared to speak about past projects, how you collaborate and communicate with others, and how you live our values. Depending on the team and role you are interviewing for, you may meet with several teammates as well as cross-functional partners. 

  5. The Executive Review: A chance to meet an executive in your function and view Flock from a different lens. Be prepared to ask well-thought-out questions about the company, culture, and more.

Compensation

  • $100K – $140K • Offers Equity

Where you fall within the compensation range is based on how you demonstrate the attributes and competencies required for the role. We mostly reserve the upper half of our compensation bands for internal growth. During your call with one of our recruiters, they can further clarify the salary range and our total compensation.
