Animator

ABOUT THE ROLE (THE MISSION, WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS, THE THING YOU DO OVER AND OVER AGAIN) 

  • Assist senior animators in creating animations for stylized game characters and objects.

  • Work with other teams to ensure animations integrate with game mechanics and aesthetics.

  • Learn and apply industry standard animation principles and software.

  • Work with other departments to ensure a smooth and efficient production pipeline.

  • Meet deadlines and work within project constraints.

  • Attend production meetings and provide feedback and suggestions as needed.

WHAT YOU’LL ACHIEVE (OUTCOMES VS WHAT PEOPLE WILL DO) 

  • Creation of appealing and consistently stylized animations for assigned characters, creatures, and objects with clear and readable poses, timing, and weight that convey the game's art direction and vision.

  • Deliver high-quality keyframe animations Collaboration with the animation team and other departments to ensure animations meet technical and creative requirements, and are completed on schedule.

  • Collaboration with other artists to ensure that character rigs and animations meet technical and artistic standards.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL (COMPETENCIES) 

  • Proficient in 3D animation software such as Maya, MotionBuilder, or Blender.

  • Basic understanding of keyframe animation principles and techniques.

  • Good time management and organizational skills.

  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members.

  • Ability to take direction and implement feedback from supervisors and lead animators.

  • Basic knowledge of rigging and skinning for characters and objects.

  • Knowledge of basic scripting and animation tools in the Unity game engine is a plus.

  • Ability to work well under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated understanding of how animations can affect gameplay and player experience.
