WHO WE ARE

At Fortis Games we aspire to make great games that bring people together while redefining how game companies work. We believe in building a sense of belonging through our games, their communities, and how we operate and treat each other. Through our game communities, we will create powerful connections and lasting memories. We will foster a culture of diversity, equity and belonging where together our diverse skills, experiences and background impact the games we make.

We are an early but mighty organization with a leadership team of game industry veterans. There are many opportunities for you to have a big impact on the products we’ll be making as well as the overall direction of the company. If you’re passionate about tackling difficult problems with direct and thoughtful communication and team first mentality, we may be the right place for you.

ABOUT THE ROLE (THE MISSION, WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS, THE THING YOU DO OVER AND OVER AGAIN)

  • Design and create high-quality user interface elements, such as menus, icons, and buttons, for video games.

  • Working closely with UX, taking UX concepts, wireframes and flows and expressing them through functional and beautiful visual designs.

  • Implement UI designs in Unity and iterate on them based on feedback from the design and development teams.

  • Ensure that the user interface is optimized for various screen sizes and resolutions, and is accessible for players with different abilities.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and techniques in video game UI design.

  • Collaborate with other artists and designers to ensure that the game's overall visual style is consistent.

  • Help build and maintain thoughtful design systems and style guides to ensure consistency across the product

WHAT YOU’LL ACHIEVE (OUTCOMES VS WHAT PEOPLE WILL DO)

  • Creating visually appealing and intuitive user interfaces that enhance the overall visual style of the game.

  • Taking part in a collaborative and learning community of fellow designers and artists.

  • Positively impacting the game's overall player experience: having your work directly enhance the player's experience and make the game more enjoyable to play.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL (COMPETENCIES)

  • 5+ years of experience in UI design, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work (bonus points if you have experience in video games).

  • Great understanding and skills in graphic design (or the equivalent) and specialization in the creation of interfaces and in menu design.

  • Great proficiency in industry-standard design tools, such as Figma, Miro, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

  • Understanding of user-centered design principles and experience designing for a wide range of platforms and devices.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, and ability to work well in a team environment.

  • Passion for video games and a deep understanding of the gaming industry and development pipelines.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and to meet tight deadlines.
