UX Designer, Central Platform

Who we are

At Fortis Games we aspire to make great games that bring people together while redefining how game companies work. We believe in building a sense of belonging through our games, their communities, and how we operate and treat each other. Through our game communities, we will create powerful connections and lasting memories. We will foster a culture of diversity, equity and belonging where together our diverse skills, experiences and backgrounds impact the games we make.

We are an early but mighty organization with a leadership team of game industry veterans. There are many opportunities for you to have a big impact on the products we'll be making as well as the overall direction of the company. If you're passionate about tackling difficult problems with direct and thoughtful communication and team first mentality, we may be the right place for you.

About the role

As a UX Designer in the Central Platform group, you’ll play a central role within the team responsible for building the technical foundation of our games and Fortis live services experience for our players.

What you'll achieve

  • Collaborate remotely with product and engineering partners to facilitate discussions, generate ideas, and transform complex workflows and information into an experience that is intuitive, effective, and enjoyable.

  • Lead the design process within your team, starting from initial research and idea generation to crafting flows, prototypes, sketches, and high-fidelity visuals. Manage the hand-off with development, utilizing our design system and documentation to ensure proper delivery of your work to our users.

  • Champion users and their needs by promoting user-centered design practices and using rituals and artifacts to continually foster user empathy within the broader team.

  • Contribute to the development and upkeep of our design systems to ensure a consistent look and feel across our products.

  • Keep up to date with the latest trends and best practices in gaming, technology, and design to bring fresh ideas to our team.

What you’ll need to be successful

  • We’re looking for a UX Designer with a solid track record of 5+ years designing web or mobile applications, preferably within the gaming or software development industry.

  • Show us your portfolio, which should highlight your user-centered design process, problem-solving abilities, and the impact you’ve had on projects.

  • Ability to think beyond individual features and consider the broader impact and integration of your designs for both users and the business.

  • Exceptional organization and communication skills, able to present your design vision and rationale in a compelling manner to engage and inspire the broader team.

  • Experience with cross-functional collaboration and consistently delivering successful products.

  • Proficiency in Figma or an equivalent design and prototyping tool.

  • It’s a plus if you have a passion for gaming or a deep understanding of the gaming industry’s unique challenges and opportunities.

Why join us

There are many reasons to join us, but here are a few:

  • We strongly believe we are changing how games studios operate and at the core of what we do is making great games that create a connected community

  • We're not just about making Games Where You Belong. We're also about building communities where our people belong. That's why Fortis is a thriving environment that celebrates diversity, embraces inclusivity, and fosters growth.

  • Build and grow with a seasoned team of accomplished talent who have left an impactful mark in their disciplines, both in and out of gaming
