About role

Platform Engineers design, build, and maintain core infrastructure supporting various software applications and services. Collaborating across diverse teams, including software developers, data engineers, IT operations, and network engineers, they ensure platform stability, scalability, and performance. Their responsibilities encompass constructing and deploying servers, databases, and networks using advanced technologies and industry standards. Additionally, they monitor and troubleshoot issues and actively contribute to capacity planning, security assessments, and disaster recovery to ensure reliability. Continuous improvement through staying updated on industry trends is vital. Proficiency in problem-solving, communication, and collaboration is key to success in this role.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with Data Engineers on evaluating and selecting appropriate technologies and tools for the project

  • Setting up and configuring the development, production, and other required environments

  • Defining and implementing security measures according to best practices

  • Ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations

  • Documenting operational aspects of platforms

  • Conducting training and knowledge-sharing

Job requirements

  • Knowledge and experience in software development, systems administration, or infrastructure management

  • Proficiency in a programming language like Python, Java, or Go

  • Experience with scripting languages like Bash

  • Familiarity with cloud Amazon Web Services (AWS)

  • Significant, demonstrable experience using DataDog

  • Experience with CI/CD and GitHub Actions or GitLab CI

  • Proficiency in infrastructure automation and deployment tools like Terraform, Terragrunt, Atlantis, CDK, Ansible

  • Knowledge of data warehousing/lakehouse platforms such as Snowflake or Databricks

  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and knowledge of container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, as well as automation tools like ArgoCD or Flux

  • Knowledge of operating systems like Linux, which includes file system, package and process management, security hardening, and patch management

  • Ability to actively participate/lead discussions with clients to identify and assess concrete and ambitious avenues for improvement
