Freelance Print Designer

Overview

Huge is looking for a Freelance Print Designer to join the Huge Moves team. As a print magazine designer, you are responsible for leading and delivering Volume 2 of “Huge Moves” magazine to Huge Inc. by September 5, 2023. You will collaborate closely with the editorial and creative teams, to ensure seamless project execution of this commercial print product. This role will liaise with the editor in chief, freelance photographers and contributing writers to ensure the images we publish complement both the story subject matter and the overall design brief custom-designed for Huge Moves Volume 1. We are looking for someone with proven experience leading the design and delivery of commercial print magazines.

• Daily accountability within the 9-6pm workday

• Creative and deadline-driven mindset 

What you’ll be doing.

• Building layouts for a 112-page, world-class design magazine.

• Source / Purchase Stock Photography, within Huge budget / finance approvals

• Source Brand Photography (obtain approval from brands to publish credited photos) 

• Crop / Resize / Silhouette imagery

• Present work via inDesign to Huge’s Creative Director for review 

• Convert digital proof (RGB) into CMYK files. 

• Liaise with Editor & Printing vendor to purchase a digitally printed, physical mock-up for proofing before purchasing the full order. 

• Present work via inDesign to the Editor & Huge’s Creative Director for review and approval

This role is currently not available for hire or work in New Mexico, and Hawaii, USA.

The salary range for this position is as listed below. Exactly where a prospective employee will be paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, the actual salary ranges for current and former employees who are either currently filling a similar role or did in the past; the candidate’s depth of experience and qualifications; the level of specialization the role requires; budgetary considerations; the market demand for that role and the local market conditions that exist where the employee will be based. For current Huge employees, tenure will also be a consideration.
