Mattermost is seeking a Staff Accountant with experience in corporate finance and accounting. As the Staff Accountant, this individual will play a key role in day-to-day operations, such as being responsible for daily accounting operations such as processing vendor bills, reviewing customer sales orders, sending out customer invoices and performing customer collections. This individual will also assist with month end close cycles to help reconcile and close out cash, accounts payable and accounts receivable.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure vendors are properly onboarded and appropriate tax forms and payment information are collected

  • Ensure vendor bills are processed in timely manner

  • Prepare year end Form 1099 filings for independent contractors

  • Ensure customer sales orders are accurate and processed

  • Ensure customer invoices are sent out in a timely manner

  • Ensure Mattermost meets supplier requirements of our customers, if needed

  • Perform customer collections for delinquent customers

  • Reconcile daily cash transactions

  • Assist in collecting appropriate data and in preparing audit & tax information, internal control procedures & policies, and tax returns Identify, communicate and execute process improvement initiatives 

  • Provide backup support to other accounting team members as needed

  • Assist with ad-hoc projects and management inquiries

Required Background/Skill:

  • BA/BS in Finance and Accounting or related field

  • 3-5 years accounting or related experience, strong background in accounts payable and accounts receivable is a plus NetSuite, Airbase, Floqast, and Salesforce experience a plus

  • Proficient with Excel and Google Sheets

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills

  • Detail oriented and effective problem solving to identify and resolve financial discrepancies

  • Technical accounting skills and working knowledge of GAAP principles

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Flexible to meet changing priorities and the ability to prioritize workload to achieve on time accurate results

  • Thrives in a small team environment and is willing/able to learn and build vs inherit existing, mature processes & systems

  • Self-directed and able to effectively complete tasks with minimal supervision and work remotely within a small team

$68,000 - $100,000 a year

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $68,000 and $100,000/year; however, pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Please refer to the Mattermost employee handbook and our careers page for more information on our total compensation package.  Colorado Only: The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, stock options, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. Washington Only: The total compensation package for this position also includes other elements, including stock options. Employees and eligible dependents are covered by medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are also eligible to enrol in a 401(k) plan. Employees are eligible for unlimited vacation.
