Join our team of 55 developers, designers, marketers, support, and business development as we continue our mission. We're gearing up to grow to over 70 amazing people in the next 12 months as we’re looking to accelerate our growth in several countries.

What we are looking for

Pago is looking for a Mid Android Engineer to work on our app, create and maintain new features and build tools to help scale our product.

Responsibilities

  • Write good, maintainable, and testable software in collaboration with the other members of our team.

  • Participate in and do code reviews and perform testing to ensure we deliver high-quality software.

  • Research new technology and tools and share those findings with the team.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with all the members of our team.

  • Participate in dev calls and brainstorm ideas and new approaches to problems

Must have

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering or equivalent technical Degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Understanding of an Android application

  • Computer science concepts

  • Experience with Android Architecture Components

  • Fundamental knowledge of core mobile principles (UI implementation &, REST APIs)

  • Basic knowledge of SOLID principles

  • Intermediate spoken and written English

  • A proactive personality and a desire to deliver your best work

  • A love for improving software development workflows and processes

  • Willingness & aptitude to learn new technologies

  • Worked on a previous app or self-published an app to the Google Play store

  • Good interpersonal skills - we work very closely together as a team and require a lot of communication.

The first six months

In the first week, we will expect you to:

  • Onboard and integrate into Pago while studying and learning our mobile app

  • Become acquainted with our team (backend & iOS engineers, QA, designers, product and support team)

  • Create your first pull request

  • Collaborate and fix the first bugs

In the first month, we expect you to:

  • Write your first unit tests

  • Create your first release

  • Come with feedback for other people’s pull-requests

  • Work with colleagues from product, dev, testing, and design

  • Come with fresh eyes over our codebase

In the first three months, we expect you to:

  • Help build a new screen

  • Work more closely with another developer on a new feature

  • Create an A/B test for one of our existing flows

  • Have complete ownership over a release

In the first six months, we expect you to:

  • Have gone through at least one major feature launch

  • Contribute and improve the codebase
