About the Role

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer, iOS who is excited to be part of our story at Pawp. As a Staff Engineer on the Product Engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and deploying our iOS app that supports our virtual visits, health insights, pet profile, financial products, and many more features! We hire engineers with a broad set of technical skills, who are highly cross-functional, and eager to solve a wide range of engineering challenges. We look for candidates with a strong sense of ownership who enjoy taking projects from ideation to production. We value people who take pride in their work, and show an aptitude for learning quickly whether they’re familiar with our stack or not. As an early employee, you'll be working with a nimble team of committed and talented engineers and will have a large, long-term impact on Pawp's infrastructure and engineering culture.

What You'll do

• Build performant and scalable iOS apps to showcase Pawp's innovative products

• Ship web features using SwiftUI, The Composable Architecture, GraphQL, etc.

• Work closely with product and business teams to understand customer feedback in order to constantly improve our product

• Help establish and influence engineering processes, tools, and systems that will allow us to scale the code base, productivity, and the team

What You'll Need

• 6+ years of work experience in iOS engineering - building consumer-facing native apps that have launched and scaled on the App store.

• Overall experience building iOS software using SwiftUI, UIKit, The Composable Architecture (TCA), etc

• Track record of shipping high quality products and features at scale

• Ability to turn business and product ideas into engineering solutions

• Passion for good design and user experience

• Desire to work in a fast-paced environment, continuously grow, and master your craft

• Alignment with Pawp's core values of providing pets the best care possible

Nice to Haves

• BS (or higher) in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent technical experience

• Experience working in startups

• Experience in the pet/wellness/healthcare space

This role is eligible for remote work or hybrid work. Salary Range is $200-220k + equity + benefits (medical, dental, vision), for candidates local to NYC. 

Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographical location, demonstrated skill set, years and depth of relevant experience, and some role-dependent factors such as certifications and software expertise. We welcome direct conversations with each candidate about compensation in all of our initial calls.
