Accounting Associate

Pirates Wanted: Accounting Associate

Responsibilities:

Keep accounting & compliance shipshape:

  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in accordance with GAAP.

  • Take the lead in transitioning and assuming responsibility for month-end and year-end close processes, collaborating closely with the Controller to significantly reduce the time required to close the books.

  • Assist with the preparation of external materials for Tax and Audit and liaise with external parties as needed.

Find the buried treasure with financial reporting & analysis:

  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

  • Conduct variance analysis to identify key drivers of financial performance.

  • Assist in the development of KPIs and maintenance of financial models and forecasts.

Codify the process with our budgeting and forecasting:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prepare annual budgets and rolling forecasts.

  • Monitor and track budget performance against actual results, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.

Chart a course in financial strategy:

  • Work closely with the VP of Finance to provide financial insights and analysis for strategic decision-making.

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiencies to improve overall financial performance.

Practice balanced buccaneering with ad hoc projects:

  • Engage in a wide range of special projects, including financial modeling and in-depth business analysis, as needed to support the dynamic demands of our business

Ride the tides in the seas of change

  • You’ll be comfortable in an environment where there’s lots of change all the time.

Sail from your port o’ call

  • You’ll be working from home, but will connect with your crewmates throughout the day over chat, voice, and video through company-provided equipment.

Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of progressively responsible experience in Accounting

  • Proficiency in ERP software, with expertise in Xero is a plus.

  • Experience with Public Accounting or tech/high growth disruptive companies.

  • Detail-oriented, hyper-organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to distill complex financial information to business users.

  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and interpret financial statements, including balance sheets, cash flow statements, and profit and loss statements (P&L).

  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.

  • Advanced data analysis skills using Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, and data lookups.

Bonus Points For/Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA certification. 

  • Familiarity with SQL and Business Intelligence (BI) tools is beneficial.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Compensation -  The pay range for this role is $70,000-$90,000 yearly USD.

  • Vacation Time - We offer 144 hours of accrued vacation time to start to keep our pirates rested & rejuvenated! 

  • Paid Holidays - 12 paid holidays per year.

  • Paid Sick Time - 80 hours annually.

  • Medical Insurance - 100% covered for Pirates by the company and kicks in the first of the month after enrollment. If you want to add any dependents (spouse, partner or children), they’ll be 50% covered.

  • Dental and Vision -  100% covered for Pirates and 50% covered for dependents.

  • 401(K) - We offer a Traditional 401(K) and a Roth 401(K), and pirates who contribute 1-3% of their annual salary get matched 100% by the company.

  • Parental Leave - Full 12 weeks for parents for the birth, adoption, or foster placement of a child.

  • Home Office Reimbursement - We provide a one-time home office reimbursement of up to $1,500 to purchase an ergonomic desk and chair.

  • Other Stipends for Remote Individuals - Wifi & snacks, we’ve got y’er back!
